I ran a test of this product to grab rows from a table. It worked very quickly and easily. I then attempted to customise the query. Some basic WHERE clause functionality is available on single tables, however there is no real querying functionality. If you need to do any type of JOIN it appears impossible, as the extension does not have built in support and if you create a VIEW in your DB then JooDatabase will not be able to open it because it doesnt have a primary key, so unless you have independant tables that are useful and complete in isolation (probably unlikely for anyone seriously trying to access a relational DB) then this component probably wont help much.

To simply display data from a database, along with SQL-WHERE statement, but not for cross-table reports.

This extension provides a really powerful, simple and flexible way of accessing and displaying database data. Having tried several alternatives it's difficult to express just how good this is. It really does deserve to be MUCH more popular.

Yes, it is necessary to have a basic understanding of SQL & HTML, but not that much. And it would save a little time if the instructions covered a few other points, such as where to insert SQL WHERE statements (under the advanced options in the menu configuration, if you're wondering), but this really is the best extension I've come across in it's class.

This extension it's very simple, customizable and easy to install.
It do what it say and it's perfect to a newbie like me.
Although, it's necessary to know something of 'mysql', it's very good!

Of all the tools for displaying SQL databases out there, this one is by far the simplest and best. It's nice and compact and easy to install. The instructions are a bit scant but if you read the instructions on the front page of the component carefully and setup your databases properly it will all work out. This is a great way of quickly displaying graphics and text in a clean and logical format.

Pros: Quick interface to databases with views and forms.

Cons: Would have liked to have seen a variable like joodb printbutton but for delete function (joodb delete) on the single-entry view.

Was able to mod the code to add joodb delete option and delete icon appears on single-view entry, but need assistance with writing code for the delete function. Pretty much the code is the same as for getPopup function. However, getting variables passed and developing the delete query is challenging.

Was able to modify back-end database edit screen to search by abstract field. Default install will only search by fid,ftitle,and fcontent.

Modified front-end catalog view search to be able to search by ftitle,fcontent and fabstract instead of the default fid,ftitle and fcontent.

Also modified plug-in to do the same as catalog view.

Pretty good at PHP, but not too familar with Joomla syntax in regards to passing variables in Joomla and developing queries in Joomla syntax

Developed an Inventory Management site with JooDatabase. However would like my admin users to be able to update/delete from the front-end instead of having to access back-end to edit data.

Like a few people that have already posted reviews I to was looking for a simple sql table display with detail page. I found alternatives and none of them did specifically what I needed and I then found JooDatabase. It does exactly what I need and it could not be any simpler.

I cannot thank you enough! I have a table in my site that was brought in from an old Access database. I tried another similar component but it was plagued with bugs, and relied on extensive knowledge of php, SQL, and Joomla code syntax. use. Joodb works right out of the box just as advertised! The fact that you've made it so easy to customize all of the output is the icing on the cake. The built in search is great, too. Thank you, again!

Really easy to use, you can create views of all your table on your server (Aerostrato you can create a view on your joomla DB calling to diferend DB of your server, never to other servers).

It will be great if it add filter box, and order box. I mod it to add that new funtions and send it to feenders. It will be great having it on next release.

This Compoment (plus a search plug-in) is an example for German engineering at its best: A solution one had been looking for for a long time, if only one had thought that something like this is possible!
The component allows to create - in a few seconds, with a few mouse-clicks - a new menu entry providing a list of database entries which, when clicked, open in a single-dataset-view. You can choose any table you want in your existing joomla database. This, so far, would not be thaaat useful (perhaps for creating in an elegant way list views of all articles, or of all registered users, or what ever is stored in the database. However, you can, of course, create also new tables in the joomla database and then display the contents through JooDatabase. In order to create additional tables you, it seems, have to use your phpmyadin tool. (It could be a solution to install, in addition to JooDatabase, another extension called com_artadminer which promises that you can execute MySQL operations inside your Joomla Backend. This would allow to add tables to the database, and then ad datasets to this table, for example from an pre-existing database.

Im very happy for JooDB.
But I have one question ,
Is it possible to have an advance whereclause ?

Such as , User_id = Logging in user ?
In my case i have a project to display information of each member . When they logon to website , I will show their some informations (Import from MSSQL) ,
- Member information,
- Payment records ..
- Etc..

This is one "mean" database tool... It does exactly what it says it will. With just a little knowledge of databases and html you can have a beautiful form in Joomla.

This is a fantastic idea with a lot of potential, It's a little plain at the moment but I can see this having wonderful applications with some more development.

After searching everywhere for a way to present my database in my frontend, at last this extension is a gift from heaven. It gives you so much flexibilty to present what you want, how you want it and where you want it. Not in a fix grid like others do. I use forms and I wanted to see the records in my frontend. Now you can display them with creativity. Also I received a fast response in the forum by Dirk. So simple and gives you so much. Best of all it's free!

I've installed joodb today bcause I want to display some statistic data and I am really thrilled. I wonder why nobody else had the idea b4.

It is so simple and usefull. First i had some problems to understand how it works. With some more features like customizable userforms and multiple tables it will be the killer application for joomla.

Hello, I'm still waiting for a alternative to the only extension open source able to manage external databases; this is another of those extensions to deal with the Joomla database but external DBs.
