Joom!Fish

JoomFish 2.2 is the full featured release including several addons such as a simple Router for your SEO URL's and automatic search within the core extensions of Joomla. It comes with an integrated one step installer that allows you to get started very simple.
Free documentation including video tutorials, first step documentations and additional material is available on our website. The site also includes an open forum for community support and additional resources.
The Joom!Fish club (subscription required) offers enhanced support options and a range of add ons targeted at commercial and professional websites. These include plugins to further manage/restrict the display of untranslated content, restrict certain menus and modules to specific languages and an additional frontend translation component that allows you to manage translators and what they are allowed to translate.
A total ripoff!
· I wrote 4 posts in their forum (I got published only 2).
· There is no contact email in the joomfish site to anybody so I wrote back to the seller email. No answer either.
· after 7 days of silence I decided to ask for a return of my money via paypal. to that they did answer straght away to say that they had cancelled my subscription and cancelled my 2 publised posts.
· I have read similar support complaints in this reviews. My conclusion is that I am puzzled with this guys because I have been using Joomfish for years, never had to deal with support and after this experience I am keeping out of giving then any more money. Unbelievable!!
It doesn't translate categories and articles titles in the SEF address, so they remain the same for every language you switch to (the links are just in your basic language).
I believe this has a very bad impact on Google ranking of your site. The solution is to become a member of JoomFish Silver club for 60 €. A very expensive solution to a matter that I think should be a part of core JoomFish or much cheaper at least.
Some extension deveopers do not have Content Elements created for Joomfish, so occasionally I have a gap where my intenational clients see some english text. But I also know it is possible to write your own content elements if your extension has none - I'm just a bit too much of a noob for that yet!
I am looking forward to checking out the JoomFish release for Joomla 1.7 (or 2.5) when available.
The forum in the site of the extension is dead.
If you need a multilingual joomla 1.7 project the best option is to look out for another extension.
You are right this version is not for 1.6 or 1.7 - both are developer releases of Joomla that do not have long term support.
The JoomFish team has already a first alpha version for Joomla 2.5 in our public repositories and we are looking forward to releasing a first beta very soon.
I wonder if there will soon a version for J1.7 and I continue to rely on Joomfish for translations and do not want Joomla version was a drawback.
Please, if anyone knows when we will have this version or will trade.
Thank you.
Thank you Joom!fish
They Club Member is not attractive because is only focused to get support and few plugin not always useful. I will be happy to subscribe to their Club for get NOW a J 1.7 version but is useless because generally even if Club Member get a release before Standard user, a new version is publicly released just 1 or 2 weeks after.
They roadmap is not very clear and we are in dark because we don't know when we can expect a release. Except to know they will support Joomla 1.5 at least until end of years, we don't have no more infos about Joomla 1.7. Their last blog post is old of 6 month.. It's a shame for a indispensable component like Joomfish.
I thinks this component should be 100% Commercial for be more less sure development follow in timely manner the development of Joomla.
Right now we are totally blocked and we can't launch new website because is not logic to start with Joomla 1.5 due to the fact this version is obsolete even if supported until March 2012. Of course we can start new sites using Joomla 1.5 but most developer have stopped development for J 1.5 and/or made separate component version for J 1.5 and J 1.7. So when the time to upgrade will come, it will just a mess for upgrading live big sites.
Hi,
This is a fair review and 100% acknowledged.
I just want to make one point clear. We will release a 1.7/2.5 compatible version of JoomFish and this will not be bound to the club membership. As usual all our work is done in the public space and the current development is already available on github. The release will be open as usual as our club is a support service and not a hidden way to commercialize the product.

Also, the fact that it isn't available for Joomla 1.6 and 1.7 is also a major setback.
The only problem now is that since I use Joomla 1.7 there is still no version for that and that is not good. It allready last for a very long time and I think many more are eagerly waiting for the new version and hopefully it will come very soon!
The problem I had is when having a site with two languages, one of the is RTL such as Arabic. The whole site goes LTR and Joomfish doesn't allow to use two different templates or direction setting for such case.
Or maybe they do but not easy to find.
Kudos to the developers of this great component.
