This module is a valued addition to sites I've set up where a daily verse is desired; since Bible Gateway has already taken up the task of selecting verses, this module cuts out the need to reinvent the wheel so to speak.
I'm starting to work on Joomla 3.0 just to get familiar with it, and wanted to also note for those tinkering with 3.0 (which this module is not officially supporting yet) you have to make two minor adjusts to a PHP file for it to work (at least in my case I had to).
In mod_bg_votd.php, line 7: Change .DS.'votd.php' to .'/votd.php'
In mod_bg_votd.php, line 14: Change getValue('config.offset' ); to entries[$offset];
At least it kept the module from breaking. I'll have to monitor if there are any lingering issues after that, but it pulled up today's VOTD.

This module is easy do download and install. However, if you are looking to use this module on a secured page (SSL) it is not secure.
I used a Windows based software that shows all insecure items on a secured page. This module (2.1.0 version) is insecure. This was tested in Chrome, IE and Opera. Once this module was unpublished the page became 100% secure.
Overall, good plugin but if security is a factor then I would skip it. Hopefully the developers will look into getting this fixed.

It's a real good job for keeping God's Word everyday in our minds.
The only thing that is strange for me is that Reina Valera 1960 is not active there.
It's the most read version in Spanish! My website is in spanish and I have the RV1909 (which is antigua) but it will be perfect for me when I have the 1960 (which is the one I use).

Nice module, but in french the Bible text is ok, but the Bible reference is always in english. Text following the verse (Bible version or copyright or "Powered by..." could be displayed in a more sexy way!

Unfortunately I have not control over this text. This is a direct feed from the Biblegateway.com site and I am limited by their license agreement as to what I can alter.
This plugin is like a plug and play hardware... download, install, cofigure the two things you need then you can even forget you have this plugin...

I would like to be able to edit the appearance and layout a bit more -- but I had everything downloaded, installed, and functional in less than two minutes. Quick and easy.
A fast way to add a really nice touch to your site. The component also offers the Biblegateway "read" button so the visually-impaired can hear the verse of the day as well. Recommended.
