Version 2.18 is the latest version. Now also support Joomla 3.0.
In Joomla 2.5/3.0 (1.6 and 1.7) the plugin can be upgraded automatically with the upgrade feature of Joomla at the extensions.
This is the last version where Google Maps API version 2 is supported because this Google Maps version 2 is deprecated from 19 May 2013. So please migrated to Google MAPS API version 3 (set the version to 3.x in the configuration of the plugin).
Also added language support for all the parameters: English, French, Italian and Spanish.

2.18 is a stable version and the following changes are made:
* Joomla 3.0 ready
* Parameters to show Twitter tweets on map
* Google Maps V3:
- Added transit, bicycle and traffic layer and to the directions
* Check for textarea's besides editor so it can be used in frontend editing
* Add css file and css parameter for google maps to solve css problems of templates or extensions
* Use Joomla framework for standalone php files
Solves the following errors:
* Vertical/horizontal slide of the map with new versions of mootools
* Several bugs in Lightbox for v3 and added a css class
* Several bugs in geoxml for v3
* Several bug in Google Earth maptype with the infowindow

This plugin is easy to install and has a many different options available. To understand these options Mike has published extensive samples and code which are essential to read before the power of the plugin can be fully appreciated.

I found the Googlemaps plugin easy to install and set up following the docs provided. After using it for a few weeks with my Community Builder member profiles, it was displaying my default latitude/longitude for one member who had an unusual street address. I sent a support ticket and Mike replied a couple of days later, actually apologizing for the delay because he had been out of town. We emailed back and forth as I tried his suggestions, and then I realized I had changed the name of the zip code field in Community Builder. I corrected that field in cb_googlemap in my database, and Googlemaps works perfectly again. This problem was entirely mine but Mike couldn't have been more gracious. Besides being a great plugin with lots of flexibility, the support is crazy good. I rarely get this kind of response for a paid extension... so I sent a small donation, which considering the quality of this plugin and the time and frustration Mike saved me, was well worth it. I highly recommend GoogleMaps to newbies, novices and experts!

This plugin used to work great! Now with then new joomla, it destroys my template... changed to 1 star

I'm sorry if the new alpha version for Joomla 1.6 destroyed your template, but keep in mind that this is not yet a stable version.
There is already one bug identified and solved that could cause this problem.

This extension is brilliantly conceived. The documentation is comprehensive with loads of examples of the many possibilities that can be applied.
I have learned there are two ways to add some quite amazing features, either by working directly on Google Maps and feeding the resulting link into this plugin, or by adding simple code to the tags which define where the plugin is positioned.
Thanks to Mike's notes I was able to learn a great deal about how Google Maps works and by copy pasting from his examples was able to try out various tags. The feature-rich result I have now achieved is amazing. A big thank you to this very clever developer.

I have been using this plugin for joomla 1.5 and never had a problem with it. My first site with joomla 1.6 I couldn't make it work but just a single mail to support (on Sunday!!) and in 10 minutes the plugin was working perfectly!!
