Version 2.16 is the latest version. Now Google Maps API version 3 is default so NO GOOGLE API KEY is needed.
Not all features are possible yet with Google Maps version 3. See examples what features are available: http://tech.reumer.net/Google-Maps/Demo-Google-Maps-V3/.
In Joomla 1.6, 1.7 and 2.5 the plugin can be upgraded automatically with the upgrade feature of Joomla at the extensions.
Also added language support for all the parameters: English, French, Italian and Spanish.

2.16 is a stable version and the following changes are made:

The version for Joomla 1.0 will not evolve after version 2.12o. So 2.12o will be the last version for Joomla 1.0. Of course support for Joomla 1.0 is still possible.
This maps extension is great! Very simple to install (great documentation available, though little is needed as it is a pretty straightforward install). After a few years of issue-free and great! use, I ran into a user error related issue and unable to self-diagnose, reached out to Mike. He got right back to me and a little while later all was working well again! Configuration options allow one to really set the parameters however they best need, and offers a lot in a very simple and flexible extension. You need maps, this gets you maps. Thanks Mike!!
This is an excellent plugin! The only reason I wouldn't give it 100% is because I wanted to be able to post more than one balloon at a time in each map, but Mike is straight-forward about the fact that this isn't possible in his maps, so that's OK. Thanks for the great plug-in!

Multiple balloon or markers on the map are not possible with this plugin (yet), but can be easily solved by using a KML file with great features. See my website for examples.
Since a couple of years I use this plugin. It is very easy to install and easy to configure. A lot of documentation is available at the website of the developer. last week i coudn't found a way to change the background of the info-popup.

Got the google maps plugin installed in wamp/localhost worked perfectly BUT when I uploaded to the server it broke !. Got in touch with Mike who sent me a fix and now works beautifully.
The plugin broke because of a PHP server problem and mike sent me a javascript fix, the only issue I had with the fix was the google api key had to be re-done, my old api key would not work so I had to get a new one. The settings and variations of the map plugin is amazing and I highly recommend it. Mike asked me for a couple of days to fix and true to his word its fixed, if you ever have any probs get in touch with the developer.

Yes the plugin is compatible with Joomla 2.5. This will be updated in JED very soon
This is one easy to use and implement plugin. The surprising part is now much control you have over it and how much it can do and it is FREE. More importantly it actually works.
There was one issue with my Joomla setup and Mike quickly was able to send the patch to have it work. That simple, hard to believe it was possible. I had read the reviews and I have to concur with the rest of his users/fans. He has written clean, workable code that is respectful of the Joomla framework. I tip my hat to Mike and his plugin.
