Version 2.18 is the latest version. Now also support Joomla 3.0.
In Joomla 2.5/3.0 (1.6 and 1.7) the plugin can be upgraded automatically with the upgrade feature of Joomla at the extensions.
This is the last version where Google Maps API version 2 is supported because this Google Maps version 2 is deprecated from 19 May 2013. So please migrated to Google MAPS API version 3 (set the version to 3.x in the configuration of the plugin).
Also added language support for all the parameters: English, French, Italian and Spanish.
Please send me language files so I can add them to the plugin. Goto my website to contact me.

2.18 is a stable version and the following changes are made:
* Joomla 3.0 ready
* Parameters to show Twitter tweets on map
* Google Maps V3:
- Added transit, bicycle and traffic layer and to the directions
* Check for textarea's besides editor so it can be used in frontend editing
* Add css file and css parameter for google maps to solve css problems of templates or extensions
* Use Joomla framework for standalone php files
Solves the following errors:
* Vertical/horizontal slide of the map with new versions of mootools
* Several bugs in Lightbox for v3 and added a css class
* Several bugs in geoxml for v3
* Several bug in Google Earth maptype with the infowindow
This is an excellent component. I'm completely satisfied with it.
I put it in one "custom" module and it didn't show up at first. I sent an e-mail to the developer and Mike contacted me within 24 hours, checked my site and told me exactly what to do to fix the problem. The problem was already in the "checklist" but I had overlooked it. Thanks Mike.

I started by copying in the sample code in the listing in to a Contact. Use the hack instructions at http://tech.reumer.net/google-maps/documentation-of-plugin-googlemap/maps-in-components-modules--contact-joomla-1.5.x.html
Then, all you have to do is put your API key into the Plugin, and it should work, you'll have a map of Europe.
From there on, in 1.5, you can just remove all the parameters, and configure it from the back end without hacking code.

To start with the author's support of this product is better than any commercial Joomla add-on I've used.
The plug-in is easy to use, flexible and has a huge variety of options. For once I'm not waiting on some functionality to be implemented for the the add-on to be useful.
I had a couple of issues getting it running, and I was able to solve one quickly with the online FAQ, and when I couldn't fix the other issue, I wrote for support and heard back within the hour. My problem was quickly resolved and everything is working great.

Not only is the plug-in brilliant but for me, what makes a program rate high in my book - is support. This plugin really works for the site that we are building. It is straightforward to use and highly configurable. I particularly like the kml integration. Mike is really responsive, I sent him an email with a question - he responded within minutes. Thank you!

Not only is this the best joomla plugin for google maps out there, the developer, Mike, is one heck of a guy, he answered my every question with light speed response, I thought the wait would be unbearable!
And he does this for free mostly! There are companies out there that CHARGE you every month and do not give as good a service!

This plugin allows you to get Google Maps up and running in your site in double-quick time. The excellent and very quick responses from the author really propelled my project forward.
My own piece of PHP code to extract points from a MySQL database passes KML directly to the plugin without the need for storing any KML files on my server. Suits the needs of the site I built.
I liked the plugin and author support so I donated. I encourage everyone who needs a Google Maps plugin for their Joomla site to get this plugin, and to donate.

Downloaded and installed googlemaps and had some issues with the coding and getting the correct address to show up on the maps. Emailed Mike and got a very timely response with a couple questions.
1 short email later, had the answers I needed and the maps work great.

Like so many others, I am very new to Joomla! and was looking for a good map extension. This plugin is relatively easy to setup, although if you learn how to write a kml file you will be ahead of the game. I was having a problem getting the directions to display in the pop up balloon, and got quick support that put me back on the right track (although I had looked at the documentation prior to requesting help, I missed the solution which was right in front of my eyes...). If you are looking for a map plugin - this is the one to get! Thanks for the great work!
