Version 2.16 is the latest version. Now Google Maps API version 3 is default so NO GOOGLE API KEY is needed.
Not all features are possible yet with Google Maps version 3. See examples what features are available: http://tech.reumer.net/Google-Maps/Demo-Google-Maps-V3/.
In Joomla 1.6, 1.7 and 2.5 the plugin can be upgraded automatically with the upgrade feature of Joomla at the extensions.
Also added language support for all the parameters: English, French, Italian and Spanish.

2.16 is a stable version and the following changes are made:
* Google Maps Version 3
- Streetview
- Weather and cloud layer
- Custom tiles
- Styled maps
- Labels on marker with Geoxml renderer
- Solved bugs in Geoxml:
+ markers disappear after panning
+ markers not shown on zoomlevel 1
+ IE7/8 KML stays sometimes grey
+ multiple (nested) links in kml
+ sorting of sidebar
+ current style of icons
- Solved bug for load sequence when using javascript compressors
- Solved bug with mootools-more/core
* General
- Added french language
The version for Joomla 1.0 will not evolve after version 2.12o. So 2.12o will be the last version for Joomla 1.0. Of course support for Joomla 1.0 is still possible.
A while back I wanted to include a GoogleMap plugin on my website that works like GoogleStreetview, but without streetview. I wanted a specific Google Map & Directions layout. A few days later Mike emailed me the modified plugin, and it worked exactly like I wanted it to.

Easy to install and setup. A beginner can get a map online fairly quickly. If you decide to dig deeper, there are plenty of demos and documentation on Mike Reumer's website to help you along. I got stuck one time, contacted Mike, and received the solution in less than a day. A perfect extension with perfect support. Thank you Mike!

Actually I have placed the code in my custom component (out of php code)as

showMaptype='1'|overview='0'|text='sv DWO'|lang=''}
Then I didn`t get any map there. Just it is displaying the code only PLease say is it possiable? or not?

Does what it says and more. I have used this extension on several sites and it has always been very easy to use and is extremely customizable. Only once had trouble, and it was not due to the extension, but Mike got back to me with a solution almost immediately. Great plugin, great support. If you need to display maps on your site, look no further.
Thank you for the fantastic Plugin. It's great when a developer have clear, well documented information with examples. You did a great job explaining how to customize Google map. Reading carefully and looking at the examples, I was able to do some customization of my own; it was fun :)

it works perfectly and it does exactly what's supposed to do, saving you a lot of time. the developer supplies the best and quickest support ever. just a couple of suggestions i was given to solve few issues: 1. if it does not show any map or just raw code, try to set global site configuration cache setting to 'no' and uninstall cache plugin; 2. if you've got any problem with i.e. turn plugin setting to 'timeinterval' instead of 'mootools'.
