RokWeather Module

★ RokWeather is an Ajax-powered weather module which utilizes the Yahoo or Wunderground APIs to display weather data and related information from regions all across the globe.

Included are options to display temperature, climate, wind speed as well as frontend based location user interaction, default location settings and cookie enabling options.

★ Features

— Graphical Representation: the module is packaged with images to showcase all types of weather from rain to sunshine
— Location Chooser: click the current area and type your desired location and the module will show the appropriate weather, with both frontend and backend configuration options
— Temperature Units: RokWeather has support for both the Fahrenheit and Celsius temperate scales
— Forecast: Up to 4 days worth of weather forecast (Maximum of 2 for Yahoo)
— Multiple Readings: optional parameters to show humidity, wind speed and weather descriptions
— Cookie Control: Options to configure whether a user's location is stored via a cookie or refreshed each time

Have used 1.10 on one of our sites with no issues, however 1.11 and 1.12 wont allow the location to be changed. Checking their support forums you can see the issue has been affecting some users since november 2012.

Unfortunately the module displays the previous day's weather. The developer seems unable to fix it.

as long as it works, it's a fine module. But to be honest, I'm getting tired of looking through the forums to find solutions to get it working again when it's out of order again. Getting 'invalid location' errors all the time.

At first you could be satisfied, but this mod has some weird behaviour. It could easily drop out a week later. And using multiple weather mods per different page showing the weather for different countries doesnt work either. More people had similar problems but support on this is close to zero.

This is one of the best weather mods on the market, because it is small and fits in just anywhere and I have it on two sites using two different severs.

BUT almost like clockwork (2 months) it throws an error which just gives you a white page or a error in the googleweather.class.php

So when the errors happens WATCH OUT

I don't typically write reviews, however I am really pleased with this module. It was really easy to setup and modify (I changed the colors of the icons to match my site). A smart way to add usability to a site, and the minimal effort to set it up was a bonus!

Says it need RokModule to operate, but doesn't. Also need a switch to turn off people changing the location (which incidentally does not work), and also to be able to turn off the location name as most modules will do this in the heading. Also it would be nice to turn off/on the temperature system (F/C) once set.
However, negatives aside it works very well and looks good. The very best feature (what I was looking for) is the location cache so you are not constantly going out to the weather site to pickup data, a problem as it slows your site down badly.
Fix the little issues and it would definitely be 5+ stars.
