Features include:
- Import Article Title, Article Intros, Article Body, Article Title, Metadata Description, Metadata Keywords
- Configurable column mapping definition Multiple delimiters supported, including Pipe (|, reccomended) and Comma (, for CSV).
- Selectable assignment to section and category
- Use of common attributes, like Creator and Published status, applied to all articles in the upload
- Auto-creation of article alias from title if no alias is provided
- Removal of special characters to reduce the chance of parsing errors.
- Bulk Import has been tested on Joomla 1.5 for over 2000 article imports. See the demo link to see the results.
Development credit: Bulk Import is based upon the Mass Content module (authored by Johann Eriksen of balticore.com) under the terms of the GNU GPLv2 license. Many thanks go to them for providing the basis of this extension.

I have been using this plugin for almost a year now. I use a PDF plugin to show PDF's via articles, and all the article actually is, is a call to that plugin. I import hundreds per week, and have done imports as large as 5,000 articles at once (legislation documents).
It has worked flawlessly from day one. The more elaborate software we would need to automatically import legislation into the site (currently being worked on, actually) is taking months to write and having this has allowed us to work until then.

It was difficult to get the CSV formatted as requested, and even then most of the import attempts failed. Small imports, where only one or two articles were included, worked fine. Larger imports never wanted to work.
More details about which special characters to be weary of should be included.
Also, though there are several known bugs/irks that are listed on the developers website, they should just go ahead and list those in the dashboard of the component so we don't have to hunt to realize the "problem" isn't a problem after all.
All in all, I think this is a great utility that should be part of the Core Joomla - but this particular version needs a few more features to make it a bit more user friendly and a little bitty bit more documentation to help us weaklings along.

This extension has saved me HOURS of work. The only problem I have with it is that I had to limit my uploads to 20 at a time, Im on a T3 connection. Aside from that ...works like a charm. Thank you!

I cant believe noone commented on this excellent component. As author stated it is based on mass content. Think this extension as meta content with endless fields and all in same page. Amazing thank you
