This indeed is a very nice addition, excellent documentation and ***if you read that*** easy to install and configure. Would love to see the possibility to use two wimpy-installments on the same site (which you can do with Wimpy) to use different playlists and different skins. The module now only reads the wimpy-folder, if you could set this path in the module configuration, several Wimpy-installments could be used.
In defense of the author of this extension the flash player 10 issue is because of the wimpy application and not this Joomla module. I experienced the same issue when I upgraded my pc to flash player 10. Upgrading to the latest version of the wimpy player fixes this problem. This is clearly stated on Wimpy's support page. If you've purchased wimpy recently I think the upgrade is free.
I bought the Wimpy player a year or so ago for a familt web site. Since then I and others have upgraded our flash players to the latest version, which for some reason broke the Wimpy player. I have sent two emails to the Wimpy organization with no response - and as such, my player is not accessible to those who have upgraded there flash players. Actually, I have requested support a total of 5 times in the past year from Wimpy and received no responses.

If you choose to buy this component, BE AWARE there is ZERO support for it.
Owner's reply

First off, I didn't make the wimpy player. So I do not feel that it is fair to give a review that has nothing to do with this extensions directly. This is a bridge for wimpy. Did this extension work as expected? If not, what is the issue with this extension and not with Wimpy?

It's a very good product. But have poor support and other products such as Rave, Wasp. They do not support joomla. And I think it's time for them to change to 1.5 native. thanks

I was going to use the module but found that they have a free 15 day trial on the that is not a module. I put it in an I frame and linked it so that it acts like a popup when the link is pressed. I would totally recommend paying the 30 bucks for the full version. You have the option of encrypting the html, buffering, Prevent caching. Playlist can be automatically detected or xml. They also offer a sql version where users can create their own playlist. Couldn't get that one to work becasue of the sql naming convention from my hosting provider.

I'm not quite sure what everyone is referring to in terms of cross platform usability, set-up, or customization.

The module works as described and the author has available on the same download page one of the most concise step by step pdf installation manuals I have seen for a Joomla extension.

Some minor php edits were needed for the module itself merely to direct the module to the appropriate wimpy file, and may be the root of many peoples issues, however how to do this exactly is described within the author's instruction manual.

Furthermore, the wimpy code itself is easily customizable via their in-house script found on the wimpy site.

This has been a great addition to my site and was installed within 10 minutes, embedding perfectly to match my theme. I'm a php noob, and managed to get it up an running quick!

I have tried most of the one on offer and it's amazing how many cluttered, over complicated programmes there are (and the amount of time one wastes in trying to make sense of some of them…).
Wimpy is superb, I could not recommend it more highly. It's clean interface with an extremely clear website which allows you to test it out before you buy it and get the look and feel you want. You can stream, shuffle, play from a playlist and integrate it in to your site via a module or link or popup. Probably the best MP3 player around for Joomla and worth every penny!

This module ROX! It took me a while to get it to work correctly - but now that everything is in place I wouldn't trade it for the world. I was able to customize my player skin and I've never had a problem from this player.

Wimpy players works great. This module does not. It will create a module that displays your wimpy player but the style is inconsistent between IE and Firefox. On IE, it ignore the transparent background and size settings on myWimpy.html. On Firefox would not align properly.

So instead of using this, I made my only block with the just the block script form the myWimpy.html and works like a charm. This mod is unnecessary or is flawed.
Nice plugin. Love the player. Works great for demo'ing audio lectures. Easy to skin as well...

Thanks!

This is a great idea, I wish I could have got it to work. I am an old timer with Wimpy players but could not get it to work with this Module.

Not able to get it to work after a day of wasted time and a lack of support I was not able to rate this much higher than poor.

The player you download will only play 10 seconds from every song. You have to puchase the full version on their website. Not only that but the files arn't complete. The .swf file that's needed to run this little program isn't in the download file.

Other than that it seems to be running perfectly, so if you want to spend the money on it. Buy it. There are nice skins to choose from.
