Thanks to everyone for your excellent suggestions and support of Auto Read More. Mango's plugin has already been downloaded 8,396 times! (January 2010)
Features:
*Automatically adds "Read more..." link after a configurable number of characters.

I just tried out the beta release of the 1.1 version and it is excellent. Does exactly what it advertises and includes images! Can't thank you enough!!

Would be perfect if it doesn´t create different height articles when you add some break line in the text. But that just happens because it does count the characters, ignoring if it is a strait text or with paragraphs.
It also happens if the article has fewer pharacters than specified, making the height to be less than if it would be using an Auto Read More function.

I have been looking for such a plugin for a while now, it works great!
Configure the length of your article (number of characters) and see the result. Brilliant!
Would appreciate the possibility for perhaps thumbing any images included in the article (as K2 does), that would make it really complete!

Thumbnails is now available in the latest Beta release. (You need to write an appropriate CSS class.)

I tested some plugins for limiting/cutting off intro texts on a blog layout and this Auto Read More is obviously the best you can choose from. If you download the newest beta version you can also include images and it provides clean XHTML.

Great plugin, but if you have bold intro text or justified alignment, plugin will override it all in blog wiew...

This is simply superb and a perfectly designed plugin. Helps us get the task done the way its promised.
I wish i could have the Other layouts included as well than just a blog layout...
I will not be using this as of now because blog layout is not what i want on my site.... i am using the category list layout and there is no option to have the display set for category list layout.....
I hope the developer will come up with the other layouts too....

Category List Layout displays the titles of articles, not content. Our plugin only works with layouts that display content. If we are misunderstanding what you want, please reply with more information.
Plugin works fine, but strips images from intro text in all articles preview (Category Blog, Section Blog). After clicking on "Read more", images appear.
