This is a really nice component that helps organize content with several additional options. This most certainly extends the capabilities of how articles within a section based on their categories. Thank you!

Sectionex provides for great flexibility in shaping your section pages, much more than the core Joomla provides, and is a must-have, IMO.

If you want the section description to appear below the section name in this component, go to line 30 in the file default.php (com_sectionex>category>tmpl)and add inside the div of the section title:

section->description; ?>

**Please use template override to do this.

I have a few bones to pick with this component.
1. There's no way at the moment to add a page description for google.
2. It creates duplicate links for content items if the alias of sectionex is different than joomla's section alias. Watch out for that!
3. No forum in existence for support.

This is ALMOST exactly what I was after, but I have a couple of requests for the dev:

1. This would be the most important one - could you please add the option to display the section description?
2. It would be really cool if this had Accordian effect integration, like moofx.mad4milk.net - this is actually surprisingly simple to code for

Other than that, this is pretty much perfect for my site (http://oman.org.au - will be up shortly)

We are going to use this for the FAQ's and the News, since each department has their own faq's and news this is a great way to have seperate links for each department or show all the departments news items.

Not much to add to other reviews except to say this is beautiful and fills a very important gap in the core options.

A simple and straightforward component that really should be incorporated as a standard Joomla layout. As it is, very useful for sites where listing of articles are required and a great set of parameters as well. Thanks to to author for spotting my request on the forum as well.

Not much to review when the thing simply works! :-)
Thanks very much for this. Oh - and yes, nice touch in the backend with the note in parameters on usage.

You know, I really liked the small touches the author of this component added to the backend. Its what prompted me to write this quick review. I've seen quite a few components that don't really "talk" to the users. But this component is different, lots of useful information.

I have been searching for a better way to display categories, but this does the trick. Currently running j!1.5.2 and works just fine.

Wishes for future:

-listing of only one category (did I miss it?)
-possible integration with MyBlog component.

That's it for now, great component.

Thanks. I tried to use Alphacontent previously which I had difficulty in using it; this one is very easy to install, use and manipulate. I would like if it has pagination feature. Thanks!!

Thank you Robert for a great extension! I have developed several websites over the past several years. My most recent project required that I use Joomla 1.5.2 and the Section Table menu. Unfortunately, you have to hack the source code to turn off the filter since this option is only available under the category list layout. (I am not sure why this is the case?) This highly configurable extension uploaded without any problems and was very straight forward to use. Again, thank you!

There has been really a great gap for a module that organises articles in this way and flexibility. Beyond that it does what it offers, the "propagate short settings", and the "Menu & Pathway Behavior" functionality are really impressing.
The only I have came across is that it only shows the first 3 articles, at alphabetical ordering IF the article title contains unicode-2 characters, which is used by east Europeans (like me) - this can be solved with some hard coding.

Great Job Robert ! Thanks !
Owner's reply

Hi "zaya", thank you for your report. As several people emailed me about this and as I only use standard western characters on my site, it is hard to reproduce or fix this problem for me. Could you maybe just send me your fix? Or is it something hard-coded that works for your site only?
Kind Regards, Robert

I really do recommend this extension for anyone who has more then just several articles and categories.
The component brings to Joomla the really good looking and adjustable section views.
Better then Excellent!

If I had named it, I would probably have called it the "Instant Table of Contents" maker. Robert Kuster has done a stellar job with this extension. The problem with content-heavy sites is trying to show the viewer where all the content is, and how it is arranged, so that they can quickly get to what they need to read. Trying to show the hierarchy of a site is usually very tricky and difficult. With this extension, it is all automatically done for you. It automatically exposes the structure of the content, by showing all the Sections and Categories in a beautifully logical layout. Be SURE to 'hover' your cursor over all the label text in the "Parameters - Basic" table to understand how all the options work. For example, you put section numbers into the "Additional Section IDs" area to automatically generate a pull-down menu of sections you want to make available for "Instant Table of Contents" generation. This is a super-slick extension. Thank you Robert!

It did exactly what I hoped it would, allowing me to create a section page that sorted all of the articles by category.

This component adds great functionality to organize your sections and categories in one logical layout under one single menu item.
It is easy and it works.
Support is very good.
I'm generally really prudent, especially with content reorganization extensions, though I'm going to use it for my website, so I'm confident development won't be abandoned.
