Content Slider Module Module

This module slides content items out of a certain category from the right to the left side.

You can customize the module through many parameters or you may also alter the css file of the module.

Feel free to have as many modules as you wish on your page. It is designed not to interfere with multiple instances of itself.

Supports Joomfish. Requires Joomla! 1.5.

Version History:

Version 1.5
* Added option to run content plugins on loaded articles
* Updated jQuery to 1.7.2

Version 1.4
* Fixed unclosed H1 tag

Love it!
I have one question.
I put end dates on my articles and after that date they are listed as unpublished but the content slider still displays the article.
Is there a way to fix this?

Thanks Much
John

this feature has been added some time ago, in the last version it should work. prerequisite is that the server time/date and timezone is set correctly.

There is a bug, so layout is changed on IE6.. Very difficult to use on Firefox 3.* (change the width, length but it's not effective). Uninstall this component but it's still there in Joomla, so I had to reinstall Joomla. Should not install this extension.

Hi
I linked this module to a certain section/ category
The problem now is that an article, which expired, is still showing from the front-end
It seems that this module does not detect that some articles are expired
Any solution?

Many thanks for this.

I ended up modifying quite a bit in the end to suit my needs. I replaced JQuery so it could use Ryan Florence's excellent SlideShow extension to Mootools.

But the module was the right starting point - simple and functional. Thanks.

Very good module. Very simlpe and it slide exactly the page code (text, images, format...).

It would be usefull a limit number of items, just to show the latest of the category. And it could be multicategory...

A very usefull module... saved me a lot of work!!!, ease to use. To developers: implement a "read more..." link, it's very simple (took me five min without know your code) but is a fundamental thing for many people. Thanks !!!

After trying around 4-5 other sliders/rotators that didn't quite match what I needed to do, I gave the Content Slider module a go and it's near perfect for what I need.

One thing I noticed though, is that if you choose to show content titles, the heading tag () does not get closed, so all following text appears in format.

This is easily fixed by adding the closing to line 112 of /modules/mod_slider/mod_slider.php

Thanks for this nice, easy to use extension.

That´s a good extension, but not works on Chrome or Safari. Works good on Firefox and Internet Explorer. Can be a jquery trouble. It´s important to works in all browsers
Owner's reply

hi there,

the module definitly works in chrome and safari. it is designed not to interfere with other jquery apps. all logic is executed in anonymous functions an jquery runs in no conflict mode. must be some other extension on your site that causes trouble.

if you send me a link, i can have a look.

kind regards,
bernie

If you just want some content to be slided, this is all you need.
Good for specially pre-formated text and/or images for it, as it lacks some flexibility.
Anyhow, it is worth recommending.
Thank you

I would use this slider for its simplicity, however there is one crucial thing it doesn't do. It doesn't cut articles off at any point. If the article is long, it displays the whhhoooooleeee thing.
I can't use that. Real shame.

Otherwise, it's pretty neat and simple, and unlike many, keeps the original article formatting.

It's an excellent small module that works as advertised. Easy to configure in the administrator back-end.

The module shows articles from one category in a slider. I might edit the module to work with multiple categories and/or section(s).

This module is simply brilliant.
It does what it promises, simply and honestly.
No trouble with css, and it works with Firefox, Chrome AND IE8.
Parameters are easy to use, ans would fit any production site.
Congratulations to developper(s) !
