You can use negetics "Horizon Slim" as a "banner Slider", a menu, an advanced image Slideshow, as graphical enhanced Article teaser just to name a few of the possibilities.
Some of the features are:

* full utf8 support
* stores Slides data in normal Joomla Articles
* incredible usage possibilities

It does not need a javascript Framework, like MooTools or jQuery, to function. It runs with a standalone Javascript (about 10kb) so you don't need to load a 60k library to have a nice grafical effect on your site.
Even negetics "Horizon Slim" works pretty stable keep in mind that it is still in the beta phase.

I juste upped a new Version of "Horizon Slim" 0.2.2_RC2. It contains a lot of javascript optimization and i added the possibility to use div's instead of paragraphs for the description Layer.
This was a very classy and easy to use banner tool. Its fully customizable, and it looks great too. Along with that, you get 4 different banner options with one extension! I can't think of any negative criticism of this extention. Its easy to install, looks great, works great and its free! I have recommended this to some future graduates at my old college for their portfolios.
Great extension. Been looking for this exact thing! When might there be a 1.7 version coming out?
I am another Joomla user who loves reviews but never writes them - but this extension changed all that. I am not a noobie, but nowhere near an expert. Horizon Slim was easy to install and the documentation easy to understand. The demo site was a joy (after checking reviews, demo sites are my next step in deciding whether or not I will actually test an extension). The site gives both examples of options and how to code them.
I have been going through the long and tedious process of trying to find the best choices among the extraordinarily large collection of slideshows, image viewers, portfolios, etc. available for Joomla. This extension was exactly what I wanted - beautiful, fast and customizable. I been testing for just a couple of days, but no issues have cropped up.
My only wish would be to be able to place the text on the right edge like a menu, but I suspect I just haven't looked deep enough to find out how to do that.

I was using redevo_k2news template and had major javascript errors, but I liked the accordion which was proprietary for that template. I had to get a new template and used this to reproduce the exact accordion style and effect (with a couple style improvements!)
HTML and CSS knowledge goes a long way here and there are systems in place to help make sure you have cross-browser compatible and valid markup.
For those with little coding knowledge, there are some examples you can follow and maybe learn a little coding along the way.
Usually more features means more complex, and this module is feature rich.

This is excellent work and a showcase of the Joomla concept - free extensions providing outstanding functionality. A very nice piece of eye-candy that will suite just about any site. The developer's site showcases the different capabilities of the module and more importantly, illustrate how to set the module up and use it.
This is a great extension that does just what it is supposed to. I haven't had any problems with it, and I also find that with the extension, my site looks much more professional and expertly crafted without a lot of work. Thanks for this extension!
Simple to use and has options to custom fit my site. I had one question about the css and it was answered quickly.
This is truly one of the most versatile modules available and makes website look professional and much easier to navigate. I love it!
This is one of those idiot-proof modules where you just install, and get it up and running within 5 minutes!
