AJAX Scroller Module

NEW: Now compatible with Joomla 3.x!

AJAX Scroller is a Web 2.0 module for Joomla! that displays and scrolls your site's Articles, Banners, RSS feeds, Tweets, Virtuemart products, K2 items or other content, loaded dynamically using different animation effects.

It can be used to present newsflashes, testimonials, latest news, banners, remote RSS feeds, Twitter updates, web-shop products or any other content with autoplay or manual scrolling in a smart and smooth way.

AJAX Scroller module for Joomla is highly optimized, hundreds of articles can be displayed and scrolled without any additional load on your website. It uses AJAX technology to pre-load the next article in advance so it's ready for scroll without delay. Once all items are fetched the remote requests stop while scrolling can continue. The whole process is performed without page refresh, quickly, smoothly and user friendly.

You can even duplicate the module and show different slideshows on same page. It can be configured to display several articles at once and remember the last viewed item on page refresh. AJAX Scroller is simple to install and use but powerful in terms of configurations.

Although I would prefer having more control of the module in the joomla backend I sort of like the control I have using CSS. Often I need to tweak module css anyway so this is not that much different.

Some knowledge of css can help with this module. The more you know the more you can mold it to your template or web layout.

I would have given it an excellent rating if there were more controls or at least individual classes for the two navigation images.

----------------------

I posted on the forum for this module, a technique for controlling the navigation arrow images entirely with css.

The navigation images are "hard coded" with this module. Size, position url etc. The css for those images controls both left and right the same.

To over ride this I used the "first-child" pseudo class. The two nav images are in one div. The "first-child" is the left arrow image. Any changes in that style use "!important" to over ride the other img style.

By replacing the main images with transparent png files you can use this technique to move the images around, change the size, create hover images etc etc.

Works great.

The new version introduces a new CSS format which greatly simplifies individual modifications including navigation buttons changes.

I saw the demo and thought this is what I'm looking for. I paid for this module, but it doesn't work at al. I contacted the person, with all my problems and questions, but I referred to FAQ, which is not included my question. You waste your money if you pay for this module.
Owner's reply

I directed you to FAQ which says that the modules which use jQuery library may conflict with AJAX Scroller. My module use Mootools, the library used by Joomla itself. So it's not my fault but the other modules that you use on your site. The FAQ suggests to remove jQuery and then the module will work. There is no reason to use jQuery as it will only slow down your site to load two heavy JS libraries.

AJAX Scroller provides another way to enrich a website. Joomla add-ons and updates from Emir Sackic usually get my attention more than most. Why: they're usually well thought out and developed with remarkable attention to detail.

In fact, with AJAX Scroller I was amazed at the range of options available!

It works "out of the box", yet if questions or queries arise, sakic.net must be one of the most helpful resources around. I don't know how they manage that but long may it continue. Definitely truly worthy of 5 Stars.

This extension does what it promises, and it does it well. I very much like that it is flexible and powerful - but simple to manage.

I got it up & running in five minutes. I am not an expert in CSS at all (... or in Joomla) and always try to use extensions that are as "plug-and-play" as possible. In this case it took me a few more minutes to adapt the CSS files...

... but, being honest, they are a lot easier than average. AND when I've had difficulties I've found an excellent support by the developer. What more can I expect?

Go for it, it's great value for money.
