FAQ Slider PluginLanguage

FAQ Slider is a free Joomla! 1.5 plugin that allows you to display content dynamically in either sliders, tabs or simply insert it into the page. Various options control features such as which tab is visible on loading the page, module chrome etc.

The content shown can be:

- articles in a category/section/comma separated list (specified by title or ID) or
- modules from a position/comma separated list (specified by title or ID) or
- individual articles or modules (specified by title or ID) or
- inline content

It is intended for use in a FAQ section but may have many other uses. It can also work as a general content insertion tool for displaying articles or modules anywhere that plugins can be processed. If you need to use FAQ Slider in a module position, please look here: http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/style-a-design/tabs-a-slides/13624

Documentation is provided on Trafalgar Design but this does not always reflect the most recent changes. Please post in the forum if you are having any difficulties.

Changelog:

0.9 focuses on: speed, new features, 3rd party SEF component friendly (sh404SEF, JoomSEF tested), many bugfixes and enhanced cross-browser compatibility. Please check the parameters in the backend after upgrading as there have been some changes which may produce unexpected results. If you are upgrading from any version pre-0.9beta3 please uninstall prior to upgrading.

0.9RC5.1 - ^ New method for parsing inline tabs/sliders syntax using DOMDocument. Now allows nested tables etc. Still no facility for inline nested tabs/sliders.

See the full changelog on the FAQ page (documentation button above).

I like this slider better than any others that I've tried. It's very clean and simple. I've heard a rumour that it will be ready for 1.7 soon. I'm waiting anxiously...

This is exactly what I need. I have been tried another extensions, but nothing works like this, saving a lot of space.

Not simply to understand how to configure it at the first time, but then it worked excellent.

To be free, it´s really great.

This plugin is one of the best for slides and tabs. Works without problem on a Joomla 1.5.23 and gives no issue even if you have other extentions installed (i.e. Joomfish, PhocaGallery and a few others). Recommended for experienced Joomla admins, a little bit less for new Joomla site's admin. However, if you take time to read carefully the documentation on the developer's site, this extention can become your "must have" since it offers a wide range of possibilities to reduce long blog articles pages, categories and sections. All in all, 5 stars!!! Thank you for sharing a time saving extention.

Looked at everything that I could find in the JED and Google and this by far is the best! I was able to get my login tabs (dinamods) within these tabs along with Sigplus (the better image gallery) and most important for the default was showing latest news articles in sliders. Matthew was very responsive and helpful in getting the latter accomplished by duplicating the module for the news. That solution (outside the normal operating parameters) did create 3 strict xhtml validation errors for the id's and he said "1 day this will be a component, mod, & plug which will have a global method for sorting id's"; but for now I can live with this as nothing else comes close for my solution. If people look at the genius of it, they will see it's brilliance! He also makes an Add Keywords extension that is excellent.

Great plugin! Would be great if articles in FAQ Slider would support tags like {vimeo}123456{/vimeo} fomr AllVideos.

Well, that's a shame, it does! Have you checked to make sure you turned on process content plugins in the backend...?

Very well done,
it works simply and perfectly,

I would just like to see a feature to chose the maximum number of articles we want to display in tabs or slides.

This ticks all my boxes.
• It does what it says it does.
• It's easily accessible to modify to suit the site
• It doesn't try to do everything

Spot on, well done

I've been looking for the thing of this kind, and I've found it! Really very nice plugin!

TO DO: Please improve your documentation. There's nothing in it about inline html, and about proper formatting (table)

Man, if I could rate higher than 5 stars, I would!

There are other FAQ extensions, like full components to set up a FAQ section. And FAQ Slider will certainly do that. But what I needed was not an actual FAQ section, but rather a slider to toggle a "More Info" link... so that I won't have to place huge amounts of text in certain articles.

FAQ Slider does exactly that. I love that I can place it anywhere I need it. And I love that it has tons of options... AND that you can use tabs AND slides together!

It's just a super awesome extension, and the absolute best of ANY FAQ plugin available, including commercial ones!

To the dev's: Thanks for providing this to us all. I'm looking forward to seeing more from you! :-)

I tried three of the highest rating FAQ add-ons and this one was the simplest and easiest to use. If you already have FAQ content arranged into categories (or sections) this plugin will quickly and easily display that content in a professional looking manner!!

Great work!!

This plug in works very well. I particularly like how you can organize your faq questions/answers as articles, and then organize the articles into a section with categories. If you do it this way, you just add on tag where you want the faq to appear, and then the plugin generates the faq, with tabs across the top, based on the category names, and faq questions based on the article titles. It was actually very easy.

One thing: Currently there is a strange incompatibility with some Rocket Theme templates. In my case, "quasar". The FAQ will not expand/move when clicked. The work around, is to turn off the template feature called "Build Title Spans" (it's the feature that makes the first word in a title a different color) Once you turn off that feature, the FAQ tool will function properly. Just a tip out there.
Owner's reply

Thanks for review. The Rocket Theme issue is related to their gantry javascript framework. The "Build Title Spans" function applies to any h3 title tag within a span tag. These are used to generate the slider titles (the same as the Joomla default). Once the gantry javascript has played with the title the slider javascript is broken, hence the problem. It is documented in the forum but thanks for posting it here...
