I like the module, great and easy to use. I need to modify it though because I need it with a carousel option to zap through more recent items, but I guess i can't request that as an option.

I read some people had problems with the last picture in an article showing as thumbnail, which i noticed and I've solved it in a quite crude way.
Open the helper.php file inside the modules dir and comment out line 130, like so:

if (!empty($rows[$r]->images)) { //$rows[$r]->images = $txtimgelsr[1][0] . "\n" . $rows[$r]->images; } else { $rows[$r]->images = $txtimgelsr[1][0];
Because its a foreach loop it keeps adding the pictures it finds to the place it gets the thumbnail from, so removing that line only adds the first one. Maybe there's a more elegant way but this works for me :)
Now i think of it, the whole if statement can be:

if (empty($rows[$r]->images)) {
$rows[$r]->images = $txtimgelsr[1][0];

Other than this, very nice module :]

really nice module, thx for this.

Few suggestions (processing images really could be better):
- make thumb of first image (not last)
- support two words file name images (for example: picture with name: joomla logo.jpg will not be processed.
- i think that bmp extensions is not supported
- if you add really big image (file size over 3mb) your site is down and you cant open site except you remove that image from article
- you could add image cropping when making thumbnails, so every thumb would be same size (like in smartresize plugin)

Minifrontpage is by far the most robust, but one major issue - and I do mean MAJOR ISSUE is that it does not play nice with external images being used. It crashed the frontpage of the site displaying a fatal error - and that scares people. :( Some kind of support needs to be added to fix this - with either turn external images into thumbnails or at least if it is an external and there is some good reason for that not being possible - display the 'no image available' thumbnail instead. I'll change my rating once issue is fixed - or sadly I will have to find another extension. My customers unfortunately do lots of copy/paste...

Just what I needed for my website.. thanks!

Does what it says how ever good rating rather than excellent as images from external sites or internal for that matter when using the http://www... etc FQDN dont seem to show. Attaching them when the images are with in the stories area seem OK.

the module is great, and easy customizable. however it seems that support is very lacking from the comments below. in addition to other suggestions below like video integration, it would be very useful if a number of latest can be omitted and this module is used after another module or the frontpage of a template. hope we get some feedback from the developers. cheers.

this is really a great module, we have installed it on our non-profit campaignign site.
This module should really become stadard for future Joomla-versions!

But I would make two suggestions:

1. Selection of images to show on frontpage
2. Possibility of show videos embedded in article on the frontpage

After much trial and error, upgrading and downgrading, I learned that the images are cached. So...if you change the size of the thumbnails, you must go into the minifp subfolder in your images folder and delete all of the resized images. Refresh your page and BOOM! The images are resized. It's terrible way to see your changes but it does work.

Now, what's with displaying the last image in the article? That's just terrible! Any work around for that? I would greatly appreciate it.

This could be an Excellent rating if I the thumbnail if the height and width setting actually worked. My thumbnails are not constraining or changing when I make changes. I have also tried to contact the developer and no response. I'm sure there has to be something I'm missing. But I've spend two hours tinkering - and I'm tired of it. So, I'm looking for something else.

This module is outstanding, impressed me on its first usage, cant believe it even had some negative ratings, for me its a 5 star module for too many reasons.

1]No coding skills required
2]Very simple to understand
3]performance is outstanding
4]Being a Module means we can use it more than once to display various categories and arrange them in order.

Simply an outstanding masterpiece for the module author, thanks for the work.

Improvement possibilities
One thing I would like to see in the future version of module is font size variation, so that I can use the module to more than one catagory in the same page and display them with various font size.

Makes live a lot easier. Could be improved by inheriting style sheet from template. Had to change some things to make it look the way I wanted it.

I tested this extension out and i had to do little modifications bymyself because of poor programming. I do not recommend this to anyone who needs customisation because there is absolutely NO SUPPORT.

Nice module, seems to do most of the job, however when an article has no images the module looks screwed up, if that could be solved (I do not want to disable images because many of the articles have images)the module would be great Maybe next release_

This module is almost great. Almost. For the simple purpose of listing certain articles with local images on my front page it does brilliantly. The CSS is easy to edit and it's very user friendly in setting up. Also, the newest version of this extension does allow multiple instances of the module on the same page, which I think is wonderful. My only complaint is that I get serious errors and the module looks incredibly nasty whenever I have images from external sites. If I had only a few articles this wouldn't be a problem but I use another component to grab music news from major news sites which includes images and it converts it to articles. I use MFP to display those articles and it fails miserably. I've tried looking on their forum for a fix and there is very little support for external images. If anything they tell people to just download the images and store them locally. I simply do not have the time to get each image for each article and upload them to my site. If there was a way to allow images with external links, my rating would be perfect as this is truly a great module and I would highly recommend it to everyone.

This extension was a little hard to install and configure (took maybe 2 hours until it was complete and in production) however once I got it all set up, it works perfect. I would recommend this and of course it is GREAT considering it was free!

Hi, I've been working around Mini Frontpage module for a while for my client's site. It's still have to be developed but overall it was good for display thumbnail and title.

I've been working all this day to find how to limit title text, and finally I've found :D

Note that I'm a web designer so I've never learn PHP and have no idea about programing, so this solution make me very proud TwT~

To limit title text..

In "helper.php" add this line..
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
$limit_title = intval( $params->get( 'limit_title', 50 ) );
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

above or after this line..
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
$limit = intval( $params->get( 'limit', 200 ) );
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

And add this line..
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
if($limit_title > 0) {
$rows[$r]->title = fptn_limittext($rows[$r]->title,$allowed_tags,$limit_title);
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Above or after this line..
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
if($limit > 0) {
$rows[$r]->introtext = fptn_limittext($rows[$r]->introtext,$allowed_tags,$limit);
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Then edit "mod_minifrontpage.xml"

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

After this
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Hehe... :D
