This module also may be used for show content of specific author, news of today and many others. Content items can be positioned vertically and horizontally. User defined format is the best feature of this module. You may compile output from content item elements and html tags. It gives you ultimate flexibility for content presentation. The module is not appearing at any place except left sidebar where only the title of module is showing (using Joomla beez_20 template, version 2.5). I understand that there might be some problem in my understanding.

Thanks a lot for your work! I'm using a DisplayNews module on nearly all my pages! I recommend it!

Thanks for this valuable module.

Because it's non MVC I though it wasn't worth the time to evaluate it. I was wrong.
This is an article display module that works and can be configured in effortlessly. There are plenty of options, but the author has been good at keeping them logically grouped.
Unlike other modules I tested, this one is capable of clean and simple layouts - a rare thing today - and more elaborated ones.
If it was MVC it would be at the top of the category.

5 stars are not enough for this module, as it is very capable and highly customizable. Once I got how it works, I used it to show "relevant articles" (according to their metadata keywords) as well as "other articles by the same author" which was equally powerful and very easy to configure. Eventually I replaced 2-3 other modules I used with DisplayNews, since it could do everything there were doing, and much much better.
Excellent module guys, keep up the good work.

i tried this extension only for one feature : being able to limit the number of words/characters in the introtext, but sadly it seems to be the only feature not working with joomla 3.1 as, whatever number i input, even 5 characters, i get the full text displayed...

This module is a really great one. But it's non-MVC design makes it hard to customize it. It has some conflicts with gantry framework template after I upgraded it from 2.1 version to 2.5 version.

Exactly what I need, a great mod.
I am now looking for a french translation, if not I'll do it.
many thanks, I donate quickly.
Exactement ce que je cherchais, il y a tellement d'options qu'il faut passer un peu de temps à dompter le module.

This is one of my favorite extensions. Its very easy to use and setup. Tons of options. Love it.

Nice options. Would not work for me. I could only get it to show module title and Oops! message. Tested 2.2 and 2.3 with exact same results. Joomla 2.5.8. Moving on.

It means that your articles selection filer doesn't return any article. It causes usually when conflicted filters are selected. For example: some specific section and an articles from other section are selected.
Simply change article filtering.

This versatile module is truly a gem. It's an all-in-one solution for almost every kind of articles display you want to use. I have used this module since the Joomla 1.0 version and it's just getting better and better. And the support is very good, remember that this is a free extension.

This is exactly what I needed for a current project. I anticipate I will be using this module often in future projects because of it's versatility. Thanks for this great free module !

Display News is a really powerful tool that does just what I needed. More important the support is great. Recommended!

Am really really impressed with this module. It does everything you need and then more, and it's free. Massive thanks to the developer.
I made the mistake of buying a few commercial extensions first, and none of them came close to doing what I wanted. Save yourself time and download this instead.

I needed a module to scroll articles from a news category in a single-line at the top of the user page. I tried several of the scrollers available but all had shortcomings. This module works like a charm and is so customisable that it can be made to do almost anything you require - (for example, I needed to strip some words out of the headlines automatically. A posting on the support board returned the method in under an hour, and it works perfectly).

Well done guys/girls - fantastic module and first-class support.

I needed to find a way of selecting a range of already categorised articles in quarterly newsletters. The newsletters were a collection of articles from already existing categories. In this module I could choose which articles should be listed and how they should be displayed. For example, I can display them like a category blog.
Thank you for this extention. It was easy and intuitive to use.

I'm developing a joomla site and I had to show some news with introductory text. I tested some modules, but DisplayNews is the best, and their customization power with css tags is really really good. I think it is a complete tool, but for me I just need to know if is there a way to get K2 items instead of joomla's items? This would be a great improvement to my site, because I want to keep DN.

This extension is so amazingly customizable that you can truly create whatever look and feel you need for your news/article display. I'm just finishing a project where on the home page we needed to display some articles as "featured" (with bigger pictures, bigger titles, longer intro text) and other articles as "regular" in a more subdued way. With this extension, I created two of these modules and customized each one of them precisely how I wanted them. All done right in the admin UI with a little bit of CSS in a single file.
I actually bought a commercial extension in this same category which I nixed as it was not as easily customizable... and came back to BK News Display... highly recommended.
