Pausing Newsflash

- the modules input is a selection of articles (from a category/ies or section/s)
- from that input the module takes the article title and intro text (article content without readmore)
- the module displays said articles in a single line view in a vertical pausing newsticker style (with specified delay)
- in order to tweak the look and feel of the module edit the stylesheet.css within the "tmpl/" directory
This module was created by merging funcionalities of 2 existing Joomla! modules:
1. mod_aqsg_newsflash
- Simple Scrolling Newsflash v1.5.3 by Joel Bassett of Australian Quality Solutions Group (http://www.aqsg.com.au)
- scrolling JavaScript feature used
2. mod_articlelist
- Article List v.1.0.1 by Malaiselvan of Jeema (www.jeema.net)
- article content getting used
v1.1 (for Joomla! v1.5)
- switched from table layout to div layout
- delay specification within module settings (admin zone) added
- all sizes now in percentages and ems
v1.0 (for Joomla! v1.6)
- same as v1.1 for Joomla! v1.5
It wasn't obvious exactly how to set it, but after a few tries and finding the Manual, I started having news scrolling down in the left hand menu. Really nice, if it weren't for the text that is scrolled one line after another in bold characters.
From the description I thought I would see all the text in the article and have the time to read it before it rolled away to give place to the next one. But apparently "No".
Nice idea. Promising work, but pretty useless for the time being.
I did find kind of a use for it. It's possible to add articles without much text with a short headline that will rest for as many milliseconds that one sets the add-on to roll. But the space is really cramped, so the messages will be of the format "Love", "Peace" and "Understanding" or somesuch.
Thanks for the review.
The main idea behind the module was to display a single line of article text, because i needed that functionality at the time i made this module, some sort of headline as you wrote.
I apologize for the lack of detailed description of the module, i see now how the confusion could occur.
I have been unable to get any content into the module although it does load in the appropriate position. There is no documentation and the developer's web site included with the module description is simply an index to the downloads directory of his web site.
Hi!
I just upgraded the module, sorry for the inconvenience.
Now it is available for v1.5 and v1.6.
I'll try to put up the documentation as soon as possible.
