This is sooo amazing. NOw i dont have to teach people about how to use the READ MORE function. FOr some reason clients just hate that and forget how way too often.

I do not get any images to show for some reason though. You can check out www.NewYorkHairVenice.com to see it working and my settings are "show read more" NO, Image YES, link image NO.

Thanks again and maybe this will be fixed soon.

I would love to give this extension five stars because it solved a huge problem for me...except I am having the same problem as the other poster, some images show and some images do not show. The developer does not provide support, which is understandable, but with the images not being consistent it is difficult to use this plugin for it's purpose: To make everything uniform. Right now some show images and some don't which makes the layout not look as nice as it could.

in the new version I hide the images if the article doesn't have one but if you have an image right into your article and it didn't show up just provide a demo to help the plugin development

This is cool extension, it does exactly what I was lucking for, there is just one small bug and it shows on Contact Category Layout like read more on the top of the contacts and this happens is when read more feature is enabled contrary it does not show. thanks.
Owner's reply

please provide a demo for the problem. Use direct contact

This is a very handy plugin, easy to use
thumbs up to the developer.
As far as i m concerned, it works fine for my articles with images. It lacks documentation but even a noob can understand most of its features by testing.
However,in the option add a link for the article image, one can only put full article address, it would be great if one could manually put the the (ext.)link to the image like for ad purposes.
Thanks

I don't think that I can made it right now because it will lose the main purpose for the plugin is to help the beginner users to add articles easily

Only some of the images appear when the "show image" option is enabled. You fix that problem and this will be a great plugin. For now, I have to disable the "show images" option because of the inconsistencies.

You may missing something but I can't get it. So if you could build an example on a site and let me see it. It will be gr8 to help you in it

This is a good extension.

No more hassling around and asking, no begging your authors to please please add read more links themselves after a short intro text. I'm fed up with those religious wars on how long an intro text should be, and how strict that rule must be applied. Finally a frontpage that displays more than one artcile prominently, since all the articles have roughly the same size.

But it is not mature. E.g. it also cuts off the event descriptions in the eventlist comonent. So I changed line 14 to global $option; if ( $option == 'com_content' ) { $mainframe->registerEvent( 'onPrepareContent', 'cutoff' ); } No biggie, but not all people will be able to do this. And preferably this should become some parameter. I want to post this somewhere, but where? This is the only possible spot, and it is not the correct spot.

It looks like the author misjudged the possible popularity of this extension. ;-)

So please, continue development! And add a forum, thanks.

Thanks for advices but I'm afraid I can't do a support for the plugin till now cause I have much to do beside it

so I'll take advices, opinions, and bugs in this comments till I have a time to support it

and for the record your idea for adding a parameter for which component is brilliant. I think I should make it in next release

thanks alot

The idea looks good, the demo looks good. I just miss one essential thing: a few lines of documentation on how to invoke the plugin.
Owner's reply

Just install and enable it from the plugins
and edit the options and you will be on the road

Congratulations for making this cool plugin.I found it very useful.I have just one question...

I was making the cutoff work with custom php code before.I had my sites using UTF-8 encoding.Php cuts differently the UTF-8 characters. There was a trick to fix it, but i dont remember it right now.Did your plugin have problem with cuting the UTF-8 words?

I think the function was
Owner's reply

no I fix this to check the encoding of the text before cut

byScotia on July 12, 2009
The idea is pretty simple - you don't have to insert any readmore's into your articles. Great for your articles all having the same cut-off point in the introtext. Problem is, you don't get the "read-more" where the intro text has been cut-off, requiring a click on the article title to read it all. If this put a read-more link in-place at the cut-off, it would be sweet.

As well, This was cutting off description's in Eventlist(for one) - so it's not limited to just articles - this as well would need to be addressed.

Unable to located the forum if any on the author's site, as it's not in english.
Owner's reply

there is no support forum till now
about the read more link there is 2 ability to add them one for a text link and the other for the article image

right in version 1.1 , Download it now

None of my images are showing right.
And why I get a extra metatag "meta name="generator" ...Space Zone... etc." - ? not good.
I think that Auto Read More are much better than this even they have problems with images too.
Owner's reply

meta generator has been deleted from v. 1.1 and you can explore the new features right the way
