I was new to Joomla when I started to work on my new project, but I customzed WordPress and Drupal for other projects before. Everyone knows that building a custom home page is important because whatever CMSs have by default sucks.

The contributed solutions I have found cost more money than I wanted to spend, and didn't do what I wanted. I wanted to have complete freedom.

I used MoeDesigns' Random/Daily Article Module and a module called Modules Anywhere (this one is free) to construct the home page. If you look in the main body of the page, 'Headline', 'Featured', and the latest articles from the categories towards the bottom of the page are instances of the Random Article Module. I use the Headline and Featured areas to showcase articles that I hand pick. The module helped me to give the site a content driven/ news site feel with a little knowledge of HTML and CSS.

I have been searching for..., duct-taping together solutions..., and making excuses to clients... for why Random Content cannot be displayed in Joomla... UNTIL NOW!!

This module does what it says and had a ton of great configuration options to boot! Well worth the modest investment!

I have been searching and searching for a random module that would show articles with images. Finally, I found this module. I really appreciate how versatile it is and how much control I have within it. This has been perfect for showing random featured videos. I can choose to have it change daily or whenever the page is loaded. I also have a lot of control over where the random articles are pulled from. Fantastic.

I had a couple of wishes for the module and wrote to the author. He immediately wrote back and sent me an new version with the updates. His support is absolutely terrific. Thank you!!!

This module was perfect for my needs. In addition, I was allowed to set width, height, article parameters and "read more" text all within the module manager, so I didn't need to do any fiddling in the CSS file. Installation and setup took me five minutes and everything's working like a charm. Thanks MoeDesigns!

I've used this module on several sites already and it has worked great. I love the new feature that allows you to display content that changes on a daily basis. You also have the option to have the content change on each page load. Easy to install and configure also.

Great product and great service, as already noted - i had a configuration question, submitted a note through the moe site, and within an hour i had a response. now, that isn't always going to happen for everyone, but you gotta admit, that's pretty darn fast. the moe person had the right fix and my module was up and running immediately.

best part of the module is the wide array of options for display - allowing you to choose headline, intro and full text, limit those by word or character, adding "readmore" or not, etc.

pretty much you can get what you want. worth the license fee - support people like this so we can have more great modules for joomla.

I subscribed to moedesigns just for this extension. It missing a few essential features so I contacted Sean the developer via his site. Literally within 3 hours he emailed back with a new version with all the requested features and more. Highly recommended!
