EasyTable

It appears that the EasyTable & EasyTable Pro components have been repackaged on some Russian websites with an extra executable file called "delete.me" — if you've downloaded this fake package seek technical advise. If you haven't unzipped it or installed it on your server delete it and replace it with the proper version from our website (listed above).
*** WARNING ***
Would you like an easy way to import tables into your Joomla website?
EasyTable allows you to manage a table exported from Excel, Numbers, Access or any tabular data source and present it as a searchable, paginated table on your Joomla website.
EasyTable puts CSV files into Joomla as separate database tables. Once imported the table can be configured to display some or all fields in the either the list or detail views or both.
Currently text fields, URL, email addresses and image file names can be handled in each column of the imported table, to give you a better idea have a look at http://seepeoplesoftware.com/products/easytable.html.
Support, Feature Request and Bugs - please use our forums at http://seepeoplesoftware.com to ask for support, new features (we have a long list of planned features already) and of course to tell us about bugs or overlooked functionality.

I'd like to hopefully see this work for Joomla 1.6 as this is an awesome component.
Thanks for the 5 star review - we're glad you like.
As you pointed out in the follow-up email you sent us columns can be reordered in the EasyTable editor screens.
Of the other two features, column sorting by clicking on the heading is supported in EasyTable Pro.
A-Z pagination is on the post 1.0 feature request list :D - so many things to do - so little time.
Unfortunately, the imported CSV format (Excel formatting commands removed) will provide a very bare bones display on any website and you need to be a CSS programmer to modify (add additional commands) to the CSS files in use by your template if you want to add colour and/or font effects to the spreadsheet.
On reviewing the forum, the lack of example CSS codes has already been raised and the reply was that a CSS file would not be made available as there were already too many CSS files in use and users should modify their existing CSS files. Incredibly, a link was given and it simply explained how to access the CSS files from the backend.
I'm not a CSS programmer and without example CSS codes showing how and where they can be placed in, say, a default Joomla template, I won't be able to use this extension and will revert to using tables in the interim period.
I downloaded this the other day and I'm already using it on two different sites.
I had a change I wanted to make on the display and the MVC nature of this component allowed me to create an override.
The only suggestions I have are to show the table name when you display the table from the list of all tables and to use on the table headers instead of
Hi Atarr,
thanks for the 5 star review - it makes our day. Unfortunately your review was truncated.
The table name issue I think you're talking about was simply an oversight and will be addressed in the 1.0.1 version.
If you have any other problems you've found please follow the support link above and add them to a forum thread where the won't get truncated :D
Cheers

For the tables list page the title is Easy Tabkes. How do I change this. I have changes the 'Page Title' box but it stil remains the same.
I wanted to put lists of burial momorials on the web site and was looking for a simple Excel to table component! Perfect. Keep going!
Thanks for the great review.
The Page Title issue was just overlooked by us (and everyone else using EasyTables) - it has been fixed in the FC10 build which we're working on right now. Thanks for letting us know about it.
A content plug-in to place tabels in articles is on the wish list which you can see at our community support forums at: http://seepeoplesoftware.com.
If you let us know about any issues at our forums we can get onto them sooner and hopefully solve the problem.
Other than having to change one piece of PHP code to get it to work on my server it worked without a problem and is very intuitive to use.
I can't wait to see how this component grows as it has tons of potential. I will definitely monitor it's progress.
If you have a lot of data in Excel files (CSV) and you want to use it in Joomla, than this extension is something you really need to look into. It is ideal for large repositories.
The extension is robust and easy to use.
Wish list:
1) Once you open a record in detailed view, you cannot move to the next record with a button (such as a next or previous record button) or enter a record number to jump through the list. You need to go back to the previous page with your “go back one page” button in the browser and click on a new entry in the list. It would be very useful if users were able to scroll through records while they are in detailed view.
2) Better documentation on linked tables.
3) Another great option would be to link to files in a field directly from a directory on the server.
4) Option to manually add additional fields (now you can only upload the CSV with a predetermined number of fields).
5) The option to enable, disable the search function and set the default number of rows to be displayed.
6) If you search a table on a key word, the list shows only entries with the keyword which is correct. The problem is that when you go to another table, the entry in the search box is also used to display the contents of new table. So, if you are out of luck, no entries will be show in the new table. The search box should be empty each time you click on a new table.
That all said, it is a wonderful and functional addition to Joomla, an extension with a great future.
Highly recommended.
Hi,
thanks for your very positive review - it's very encouraging for us.
Most of your Wish List items are in the thread "Future Features" on the forum ( http://seepeoplesoftware.com/forum/ )
On documentation we have added some more recently and we will be adding information on linked tables in the next day or so.
Excellent work. Keep it up and hope the developer can keep on enhancing this extension. ( eg to search using field names , ability to have a plugin attached to this component so that users can place the table anywhere in an article eg easytable {table id , height, width ,etc }
Hi,
Thanks for you 5 star review, it's very encouraging for us.
We do want to keep improving the EasyTable component and welcome any feature suggestions at our forums where we have a sticky topic for just that pupose.
