This is a blog component. Where registered user can add post and also comment against the post

This is the first component i'm publishing to Joomla Extension factory. So please let me know your feedback and suggestion. My next version of this component will be releasing soon.

I have to agree with the above reviews, there is no configuration or parameters for this component, I had to open the php file and change how much text was shown before the "Read More" link populated. For those who need to know, change line 37 in com_blog/views/blog/tmpl/default.php - increase the post_desc),0,500 to 0,1500 to display more text. Cheers!
This isn't a blog per say, this is a commenting system. A blog is a journal. And on a community site a blog should separate all blog entries and limit them to the member who posted them. IE as in PRIVATE! Does anyone even know what a blog is supposed to be?

Like Imbossok, I too installed this extension and find it doesn't work. http error 500 website cannot display the page ... I am using joomla 1.5.22; given the age of this extension and lack of updates my guess is it hasn't been tested with later versions of Joomla. I appreciate you can't expect too much from non-commercial extensions, but this one is recommended in a PackT publication on top Joomla extensions! So I am very disappointed the author seems to have given up maintaining it and disappointed I paid for a book recommending an extension that doesn't work as described! I could spend hours fixing the extension, but might be easier just finding another.
Having looked for a blogging system for a while, I have seen a few. This Extension is an excellent FREE blog system. It works well and first time, takes 5 mins to set up.
The only thing that would have put me off is it's slightly dull appearance on the demo site, though having looked at it properly this is easily rectified.
Some better back end functionality would be great, perhaps something to change the appearance without having to go into files, also, preventing users from posting. Comments yes, posting no.
For a free extensions this is great and I am sure it will be easy enough to tweak to my liking. I look forward to any future updates.

Great extension... i love it...only language support missing!!!
Once again this is a component/extension that I had high hopes for but after installation I tried to post both as admin and a registered user and................nothing, a couple of hours wasted trying to find a solution but the same old story, dust unanswered question in the forums.
I'm completing a web design class and wanted to add a blog to my new web site but needed something simple to download and easy to use. I have found that this extension was easy to load and has been fun to use. I look forward to using this tool in growing my community of designers and business.

The project seems to be abandoned by its author ? but it's quite easy for developpers to understand it and make corrections and improvement.
The translation features are buggy and the language file cannot be correctly used by the program.

This is a good little addon for Joomla. To echo most comments, support is very poor, which is a real shame because this could be great. My problem was with Smart Blog showing real names and not usernames, as already mentioned below. However, the solution is not difficult, just go to com_blog and change every reference to "users.user" to "users.username" in the SQL queries. Smart Blog will then display usernames instead of real names.

I like this blog.. sleek and quick, but there are no configuration options in the back end, and it displays the user's real name, not their username, and no one on either the developer's forum or on the Joomla forum has responded to inquiries as to how to change that.
I'm not sure about this one. It's easy to set up, use and looks great! However, once a user registers with your site, they can create Blog posts... not just add comments, but actual posts. And this was found by accident by someone who just wanted to comment.
This is not what I expect of a blog software. I do not want users being able to hijack my blog.

I've installed this extension on my website and it's fairly poor in terms of configuration and after noticing there are some unwanted issues I tried to contact the Developer but had no answer whatsoever, the Forum they have is as if it wasn't there.
For the life of me I really can't understand why you would develop an extension then offer no support at all, I'm not asking for direct support but a few lines to explain every now and then on the Forum to the benefit of all users who may encounter difficulties in using the extension.

Like many other there are absolutely no help and no description of what you need to install the module. The ZIP file you download “smartblogv1.5.1.zip” actually consist of 3 zip files:
blog.zip
mod_bloglatestpost.zip
plg_blog.zip
And absolutely no help or description at all but that’s the same problem with at least 50% or more of all the other extension caused by zero project management.
Configuration:
After installation of the 3 modules you are left at your own trying to guess how to configure the stuff.
It’s easy to get something that looks like a BLOK but it’s hard to figure out exactly how this has to be set up….to work!
On you ways testing yourself through the extension you find out that you are actually BETA testing the software and ends up getting angry and frustrated because there is absolutely no back-end control panel so that you can control accounts etc.
The software looks nice. It doesn’t do any harm and you get what you pay fore – which is weary little…
