Everything is excellent mate, but what the hell?!no class for the comments text in the CSS?i mean i use a black template and the text i use for it is white,now...the comments when using the template idoblog...inherits the color of the template's text and as you guessed i cant read the text,i suggest you ad a sepparate class for the comments text so users can change colors as they like instead of having the color inherited from a class of the template!

I have been using Idoblog for over a year now. They just released their updated Idoblog Community Version, and it works much better than the last version- no bugs so far :)

Members now have the ability to add html, videos, pictures to their profiles, which was seriously lacking in last version. Groups ("Communities") are easier to edit and manage. The Idoblog team continues to work very hard to deliver a flawless component.

Feature requests:

1. Allow plugin for jcomments to work with the editor field on the front of the profiles. Currently not working/supported.
--or add the default ido comment form there.

2. Bring back the previous list (shown on the front of their profile, like in the last version) of users blog posts so that they can be easily seen in order, rather than searching entire blog view or relying on activity stream.

3. Allow member to upload/choose a file/color to customize profile background, rather than installing a completely new profile choice.

I must say, Once Idoblog has achieved these, they will definitely deserve a 10 star rating! Hopefully in the next version, and the next version look will be the same look, just with these added features!

Thank You Idoblog for an outstanding product and for your support! You Rock!
This is a great product. I have it working very well on a number of sites. Being Free, I dont ask for much and enjoy the community support. I find the IDOBlog community very inactive. Myself and at least on other person have posts about incorrect timestamps on blog entries. It seems nobody in the community answers questions very often.

Apart from that, more than happy !

It's an over all good blog extension, but it lacks in important functionality, or at least I was unable to discover it.

First of all, I wasn't able to create two different blogs associated with one user account. That's a pity, since I need two separate and unrelated blogs: a personal one and a development blog for the game I'm making.

Second, there appears to be no possibility of enabling comment moderation and restricting comments only to registered users. My site is having severe spam problems and needs spam-proof solutions.

To sum up: a good choice for people who have basic needs and experience no spam problems. A bad choice for all the others.

If it corresponds exactly to the description, why you put the 2 points? =)
IDoBlog Free - a simple solution, to everything else is a commercial version, in it you can do anything.

I use this module on a company intranet and it is perfect for the task. It is the only blog component I could find which installed easily, ran well and had not problem (so far!!).
I like IDOBLOG better than the blogging system I paid for, that I'm using on my other Joomla site. It's very straightforward, with all the essential features. Fast. Nice editor. Compact layout. Fits perfectly into my template as if it was made for it. I didn't have to fuss over IDOBLOG at all. I will keep my eye on this script. I hope they integrate with Jomsocial eventually.

It seems OK, but as to what has to do with J1.5.14 it doesn't work the way it should be. The profile doesn't work and you can't save a thing. The casts are for J1.5.3, and the problem that has come up with TinyMCE since J1.5.12 doesn't let you do much. Even if you have chosen other editor, it just won't let you select it. The forum is working from time to time but you won't find easily what you're looking for. Still, I can wait for the next edition, but for now, ..err... nope.

IDoBlog Free is a good component. It looks nice. IDoBlog Pro was even better because it had Community Builder integration and some cool features. The developer abandoned it. That leaves only one viable blog component for Joomla, a very expensive and not necessarily better system. And for that one you have to buy the comments system separately.

To the developer, why not start developing the Pro component again? Price it at about half of what it was before and you can maximize your profit because a lot of people are looking for such a sleek blog system that works and works with CB. Thanks!

Totally MVC and has all of the features of other paid blogging systems. My new choice for a blogging partner.

Love it!

Good points:
Easy to use, good user/admin interface.

Bad:
Hasn´t CB integration, because they have their own community project.
Community support has no answers from developers.

I like it and will use it. But is so hard make a CB integration, till Community be done to use?
This component is worth looking at. I wanted something simple, flexible and Joomla native with tagging and comments. I tried several others in this directory without much luck. This totally fits the bill for me. Thanks!

Lots of work still to be completed. No true SEO - view page source and see no keywords or page description. No ability to manage from backend.

>No ability to manage from backend.
We think, that it is a plus of IDoBlog, not minus, because the user has the ability to edit without going to the admin panel.

I installed this component then uninstalled it because there are security warnings about Idoblog at Secunia and Milworm. SQL injections are the problem. I have not seen anything addressing this vulnerability from the component maker or on the Joomla forums. Has it been fixed?
The good parts first.
1. Really easy to install
2. Feature rich - user defined tags, built in commenting system, built in avatars, intuitive user interface.
3. Classy layout and fun - I love the Avatars

I really loved this component. The next part of my review will sound harsh but it is only because this component comes the closest to bridge Joomla's lack of a blog and falls just short!

Where Idoblog fails:
1. There is no Idoblog search. Serious handicap as the default Joomla search has a different URL and these are rendered without the avatars and tags.
2. Multiple sections are not possible. This is a huge drawback as there can be only one section and the categories are the user ids.
3) There is no analytics at the backend. So you have no idea how many comments or hits a particular blog has received
4) Very few plugins and modules - plugins like ratings (no joomla default and votitaly don't work in the blog mode), most commented or most viewed modules would have been really useful.
5) Documentation - the documentation is not very well laid out. There's not much info in the forums/communities

I was looking for a blog system that could easy be integrated with my website and this was just brilliant, because it allows the creation of themes, the integration with my website was perfect, thanks allot for this extension.
Just one feature missing from this blog extension, the oportunity to preview posts, but since users can edit the post, this isn't much of an issue, hopefully it will have this functionality in the next versions.

Keep up the good work.
I have wanted a blog section that would allow comments for sometime. There are some that allow that but you have to pay first...The guys at IDoBlog know what they are doing!! This is excellent! Not only is it easy to install (the way it should be) but they show you how! Video instruction!!! Now how hard was that. I tried SmartBlog but I must be stupid cause that one had no instructions and it was impossible to figure out. This is super easy and on top of that it shows you how. And it is FREE, beautifully laid out, and just what I wanted. Of course there is a paid upgrade, but at least they let me try it and of course that convinces me to use the upgraded model also.
It is clean, easy, complete with a tag cloud for SEO purposes and basically, I have tried others, IDoBlog takes the Oscar, Gold Medal or whatever award you want to give.
Thanks IDoBlog, you make life simple!!
