I use this blog package on my family website. Have had it installed for just about a year. After a bit of tweeking on the template, it fit right in with the look of my site. I tried Wordpress and a couple others. Wordpress was a bit more than I wanted and all the others were a bit less... Lyftenbloggie was just right. I did install a more full featured comment package (JComments) which integrates beautifully and seamlessly with this blog package. Overall, I have looked and even with a couple errors/quirks that I have had to work around or fix, this is the best Joomla BLOG package out there! Thanks for the hard work!
I saw the high rating and I had high hopes. I tried to install this on a fresh joomla 1.5 install - totally blank site. No joy. It seemed to inistall OK, but totally blank page at backend meant - UNINSTALL. I have plenty of experience with joomla and when something like that happens - run away.
You are onyl setting yourself up for heartbreak down the road if u manage to kludge it to work.

Just installed LyftenBloggie and have to say I'm very happy with it. It is light weight and easy to use and installation was a snap. The configuration was quick and simple and have not experienced any problems at this time.
If I had to give any feedback it would have to be better theme's, other than that...
Keep up the good work.

In my opinion this is a good component. Easy to install and easy to configure. The only problem I found is that it doesn´t let you to moderate commments.
The rest of the features are quite good.

I found it really useful apart from some "lil" bugs that i still need to fix :)
This component is extremely buggy. Does not work. After awhile I had to scrap it and uninstall. Thanks to Mac Time Machine I was able to recover my old Lyften Bloggie version install and re-installed, now it's working.
I would stay away from this component unless you enjoy headaches.

The best free blogging system for Joomla, no contest. Well, that is if it actually worked. If you can keep this thing working properly for more than a week then you're lucky... Mine completely broke once I commented on my own blog post, the whole system exploded and stopped working.
Looks like if you want a _good_ blogging system you still gotta pay money for it...
I really hope the developer fixes the issues in this system, it could be wildly successful.

What happened to this "use to be" awesome component? Seriously. I was so happy when I first used it then all went down hill. This is my first negative review and I feel bad writing this but to be honest this component is terrible, do not download it. It use to be the best blogging tool out there, now it's nowhere near being close. Also, like some others have said the support sucks and the developer disappeared. I'm not going to say I'm mad at him or anything because I have no clue why he is absent. If he is okay and everything is okay in his life, then how about fix Lyften Boogie, it would make EVERYONE happy and I would not hesitate to use it.
When I first installed it nearly a year ago, it went well. The developer was totally absent from his own forum, but there was an OK support from members, and the product worked OK. Then a new version came out and the dev reappeared. All went well for a bit.
The extension has started having some bad problems recently however. It has a built-in ping which was great, except now even a brand new post claims it's already pinged so it never gets submitted. There are front end entry errors too. Worst of all, the forum is almost dead, and the dev has, yet again, gone AWOL. If you want support, forget it. If you want a problem addressed, forget it. I am sick of waiting for 3-4 posts to be answered. I removing it from every site and putting something different on.
It's free, but it's VALUE is not good.

Upgrade has lost me hours of my life I'll never get back. MySQL errors, incomplete database update, settings that don't stick when clicking apply. Lyften bloggie has hit a low so low that the light from low will take 7 years to get here.
If you care about your site, DO NOT INSTALL LYFTEN BLOGGIE.

After two years of using Joomla 1.5 next to Wordpress, I was searching for a blog-component similar to Wordpress (version 3.04).
During my search I found LyftenBloggie. After the installation I was a little surprised. It looks quite a bit like wordpress and is as easy to handle as wordpress is. I felt quite familiar with the backend interface and it has 4 nice looking themes comeing with. Furthermore it has all necessary features a blog needs.
What I am missing is an import/export function to save only the things like tags, kategories and entries without saving the hole database. It would be really nice if it would be possible (in a future version) to import from or to wordpress or at least to a proprietary file. The possibility to link an entry to multiple kategories would also be good.
So I can say it's a good working component if you want to have a blog on your site.

The demo seems to be real good. But lots of confusion with the configuration.
Not able to configure for the Front end entry The Documentation is very poor. Only Back end entry Possible for Blog..
Hope you guy provide proper documentation. And if thing work out fine like the Demo the i would have given this 10/10

I have the blog installed on a club site I volunteer to do the site for. While the blog portion works OK in terms of posting and commenting, a big part of blogging is receiving notifications so that people can see what the buzz is. Notifications either blast a notification 40 times to all 40 members, or once to the person writing it. This issue has been listed multiple times on the so-called lyftenbloggie support forum by several people with no response there. The forum provides no learning beyond knowing other people are also facing the same issue. I am now going to need to find a product that works along with the hassle of migrating everything.
I had high hopes for this extension but I wasted a lot of time trying to sort it.
Images goes into your own media files, CKeditor did not work, date out of sync to name but 3 problems.
I visited the developers site to look for help the forums are very dusty with unanswered questions and some answered by others just having a laff by showing links to products for sale.
Daniel, you have got a great product and I know its free but if you want things to be good for you then you are going to need to start helping those that need it.

well, first of all i apreciated for the programmer for making this component.i had installed on my joomla and it got error in date function on every new entries i made.publish date not showing the real date/time, i just write new entries and the result on my joomla front page always show 1999 year based, not 2010! i try to add up publish date manualy on my entries post but the result all my posted entries wont shows up in the front page, but when i made the publish date came back to 0000-00-00 00:00:00 as LyftenBloggie default pubish date, it shows up again on the front page.
so for this short issue solution, i had to make my own manually publish date through Setting - Date Format and i put this: %d %B 2010, but i need to change 2010 to 2011 for next year pubishing and it will give impact for the previous year pubish date too!
sorry my english is not good. but i hope LyftenBloggie understand it.

it does all that I need (and can do much more)
I was up and running in 10 minutes of so, but then it took me a little more for the following.
- there is no interface to change the avatars (I need only one user so I changed the file components/com_lyftenbloggie/assets/avatars/default.png
- when I create a new blog entry (in the backend) and save it the first time the created date "OK" on the left of the screen (why is that field not labelled "created" but "ok"?)
I found the solution (for me) to be as follows:
First, I browsed the code and noticed that the guilty function was something like store(). Then it was easy to find where the function resided: grep -r "function store(" . | grep "com_ly" told my in split seconds and then the fun started. The workaround was a follows
-1- edit the file administrator/components/com_lyftenbloggie/framework/core/entry.php
-2- locate the following lines
if($xmlrpc)
{
$this->_entry->created = (is_array($data['created'])) ? $data['created']['year'].'-'.$data['created']['month'].'-'.$data['created']['day'].' '.$data['created']['hour'].':'.$data['created']['minute'].':00' : gmdate('Y-m-d H:i:s');
}else if($mainframe->isAdmin()){ //Small Fix for Backend date
$this->_entry->bind($data['details']);
unset($data['details']);
}else{
$this->_entry->created = $data['aa'].'-'.$data['mm'].'-'.$data['jj'].' '.$data['hh'].':'.$data['mn'].':00';
}
.... and replace them by
$this->_entry->created = (is_array($data['created'])) ? $data['created']['year'].'-'.$data['created']['month'].'-'.$data['created']['day'].' '.$data['created']['hour'].':'.$data['created']['minute'].':00' : gmdate('Y-m-d H:i:s');
(it seems to me that while displaying for the first time the blog entry the system already pulls in the create date so it is in the getInstance(), so there is no reason to do those things as above, at least so it seems to me)
- no interface to change the picture that is displayed next to the bloggies
With these few hacks you'll be up an running in less than 30 minutes.
CONCLUSION: excellent extension, some debugging needed.

This extension used to work and was actually a great free blog system. Integrated with JComments and Jomcomments, etc.
However, after the latest update, which claimed new features, absolutely does not work. You now get a 404 error and a 500 database error in the backend.
I uninstalled this and now have to look for a new blog extension. This extension is dead and there is zero support on the developers site. You won't get any replies to your questions.
Do not install this and may harm your Joomla install.
