It's a shame that some users had a bad experience with this component, especially technical difficulties. But I must say, if it weren't for the three anomalously low ratings, this MicroBlog would easily have five stars.
So I admit, I already accidentally posted my review of this product to the wrong web developers' listing (oops)--but what I said there (more-or-less), I am happy to repeat here!
This Microblog extension is excellent, easy to operate and integrate, and also quite attractive. It meets my needs perfectly, with a modest amount of customization and features at my disposal, in a straight-forward interface. In fact, I would recommend most any of the products published by the JOOFORGE development team. So long as you either speak Italian, or have one of the thousands of free translation plug-ins installed to your browser, I have a hard time understanding how language poses any barrier.
All of the JOOFORGE products are quaint/ niche, well-executed, visually appealing, and operate smoothly.
I give it five stars, definitely!

Two times I have loaded it. It does not work and when click this Microblog (in the menu) a page full of errors is displayed. I do not understand how can you publish such a thing online. It lacks any guidance or information for the installation. The demo includes a number of link errors (404 page not found) and not a forum or FAQ is specified.
I took this based on it's simplicity. Not only is it easy to install but it is also very sexy in it's design.
I would give it 5 stars if there was a front end option with the ability to let users blog as well. I just can't see how a component that makes you go into the back to write is beneficial. Other than that I LOVE it.
I am almost pained that I must remove. Please add these functions and you will be flying!

The zip file comes with a component and a module. You can install the component only and create a menu item and you don´t need to use the module.
Although the download site is mostly in Italian, you can manage and download the whole thing.
This is a very simple blog, a nice addition to any website. I simply need it to keep my visitors updated.
Thanks for this great component!

Just tested this with Joomla! 1.5.7, it can be installed and worked. But I can't understand the design of this software.
Is this a single-user blog tool? Then why you need an Author field to fill ? Do you think the Admin will forget his name? Why not just fetch the Admin name automatically?
Is this a multi-user blog? Then why I can't find a Write New Blog link at frontend?
What is the superiority of this software when compared with Joomla default content component? I think we can publish mini Blog articles with com_content too. If we need special blue frame around the article, we can do it by CSS. Why bother to install such a weird component?

I can not say if this is a good component...
First:there is no translation for the site so that English speaking users may read it.
Second:upon installation tried to configure and an error appears that shows a path into the microblog directory that does not even exist.
Third:there is little in the line of additions to the program.
I am sure that these are bugs they are working on .. would be nice if it at least installed.
