Auto archiver Plugin

Auto_archiver is a very simple plugin that automatically archives articles older than a given age, or articles coming after a given number limit of articles to keep published.

You can select the categories to treat with it.

For exemple, you can set up archiving of all articles of category A older than 6 months. Or simply, all articles of category A beyond 10 articles published.

The advantage of this method is that you do not have to specify a archive date for each content item, so you can control the archive process from the plugin interface for a given category.

this plugin is available in english, french and dutch (translated by Jeroen)

changelog :
1.6 : option to move content items into one category instead of archiving them
1.5.3 : no need to uninstall previous plugin version (installation with update process) and dutch translation (thanks to Jeroen)
1.5.2 : fix issue that may occur on some webservers
1.5.1 : ability to apply a limit of articles to be let published for each category in count method, instead of a single limit for all categories articles

I'd like to give it an excellent rating, but I was hoping it would have the one feature I have been ransacking the internet for, but it didn't so I'd rate is as good.

I needed it to expire the featured status of an article on a specific date (and/or time) but it couldn't do this, which is a shame, as there are many others looking for this funtionality, but no extension that can do it.

If the developer could add this, it would be BETTER than excellent. But at the moment, it is only, but still, good.

We want to archive Articles based on 'publish' date.
This plug-in is just what we need.

Thanks!

The plugin archives articles by creation date. I would rather see articles archived when the publication has ended (publish down).

There is no expiration date needed to archive your articles. Very easy if you have a category in which you have articles that must be archived after for example 3 months.

Also my compliments to the author for his fast help when I tried the plugin and it didn't work

Good job.

Good stuff, exactly what I was missing from my feed importer; now I don't have to manually delete old feeds from my news reel.

The only complaint is that the scheduler seems a bit slow; it does not respond in "real-time" to changes in settings (for example, I wanted to see if it would archive all the things that were older than a day, so I changed the setting, saved, published...waited...waited...and after maybe ten or fifteen minutes they started to be removed one-by-one). Am I wrong here, is there a setting that I am overlooking?

Either way, it works, just a slight tweak to make it indispensable. :D

You need to publish some short support. I Can't understand how "count" function works, it's count of articles for section or category, if category, why there's need for category selection in settings?

I have lot of sections and categories and every time i select some categories extensions archive different count of articles.
Owner's reply

you are right,
since 1.5 version, you can just select only categories (section is a group of categories), so if you want to select an entire section, you have to select all of it's categories

Thus, until 1.5, count method does apply individual category count limit of articles

The 1.5.1 resolved this point with each category option parameter that enable it.

This Plugin does really make live easier.
No more manually archiving, because all is done by this plugin.

Just install, set the parameters and publish and you are good to go.

It's really great, thanks to the developer.

Installed it, configured it, and it worked!

Combined with a component to feed articles (but which doesn't set an end date!), it will work a treat!

Brilliant job.

I think this great plugin. Just tested it and it work as said. Easy install, easy setup... and your content automatically archive.

More over... you dont need to set expired date to each article.

Welldone to the developer !!
