I tried several plugins to do this image effects... and this is the only one which is working fine with my template!

Hi!

I liked very much this plugin. For some people will do the necessary work.

I'm writhing this review to say that "HTML purifier" plugin is not compatible with it. The popup will not work, the full sized image opens in a new window instead.

Good job.

Great tool developers !!! Thanks for this plugin, it helps me to save a lot of time putting images in my articles! Just enable the plugin and all the images you have in your article are resized and looks fine!

This is a very useful plugin! Thanks again!

Great plugin, very easy to use. Just don't forget to change 'Text Parameters=Description' to avoid IE display the [Object] in Title area.

This might be an excellent extension but sad to say this messes up my template each time I enabled this plugin. I have spent lots of time looking for solution on the web and finally gave up.

Thank you. I have spent a lot of time trying different plugins of that kind and JoomSlide is exactly what I need. Keep up the good work!

it is impossible to access to the wiki pages, no documentation available at all.
The forum has tons of unanswered questions.
Definitively not usable at all.
I have removed it 5 minutes after I have installed it
You have to get down to the plugin parameters before you learn that HighSlide is "not free for commercial use".

So while this plugin may be GPL, installing it makes your site not GPL.

This fact should be made more prominent to avoid wasting time.
This is the only thumbnail plugin that I did not have a problem installing and using with my panoramic photographs. My panoramic photo is 12 inches wide. By using this plugin I was able to have the photo reduced to an appropriate thumbnail so the user can just click on it to expand it to full size. I found it very easy to install. Thanks for a job well done.

Too bad this doesn't work and there's no documentation. I checked the forums, and can see that it's working right here with the description of the extension, but I can't do anything with it.

Documentation is extremely simplified, says to add the class: joomslide to your images. I did that and the images open in a new window. No other extensions are using Highslide so there should be no issues. Forums have no responses. Looking for another solution.
This plugin has a lot of potential. But while there are tons of features, there's a few features which are oddly lacking. For example, I can set the duration and number of steps for the "expanding" effect when I click on a thumbnail, but the same settings for closing the large image are set in stone. I want NO animation, so I set everything to 0 (which works as intended), but it still animates when I close the picture.

Also, I can adjust the visibility of the control bar, the caption and the close button, but not the "full size" button, which is always there whether you want it or not, and always in the bottom-right corner. And the animation from "large" to "full size" is not adjustable either.

Looking for help in the Wiki is hopeless, there's no help available there whatsoever. Here's an example of the installation instructions listed there:

- download extension
- use Joomla installer to install

The Wiki is a placeholder, nothing more. Maybe someday content will be added to it.

It's too bad, because other than these issues, this plugin is nearly perfect for my needs. But the missing features are especially conspicuous in their absence.
set to "all images" and let it go to work! just what I wanted, fully automatic thumbnail generation with lightbox functionality.
I want to love this extension, but I can't. As far as I can tell, this is only helpful if you have a certain set of pictures on ONE page on your site and you want to do a slideshow for those pictures. But to just make thumbnails for all the pictures on your site (or many of them), I don't see this extension being helpful (because for one, it will make a slide show out of ALL the photos on your site or at least the ones in a specific directory). Also, the documentation is quite weak. I tried to look at the Wiki, but kept getting "permission denied" notices (even though I was logged in). So, this has a lot of potential, but needs some better documentation and fine tuning so that it doesn't show pictures in a slideshow if you don't want them in a slideshow.

Very, very good plugin. Many options to play with but most important for me is the good wrapping of text around pictures. I tried a lot of gallerys and components but this plugin is the best for me.
Give it a try!!!!

This is amazing plugin for Joomla!, its outperforming multithumb which I was running previously. It isn't disrupting other components, it's working perfectly and it's delivering pro level design for my web page. It's working automatically, but still it is possible to control size of images which you don't want to convert to thumbnails. Very important is that author very fast respond for support questions. This plugin is free but deserves a donation thanks to its quality!

This is THE image extension for me. Together with outstanding support from the author this is a must-have for all Joomla installations. Thanks, great product!
bykefi on January 9, 2009
The best, nothing more. I haven't tried it yet on a site of mine, but as I see from the demos that's the best. And it works perfectly on IE7

Highslide is the best Web 2.0 approach to popup windows. A professional choise for professional sites. On the other hand it's VERY complex to integrate and configure, so that beginner webmasters can be discouraged if they can't use a GOOD J! extension.

I tested ALL HS-related extensions without having satisfaction until I discovered JoomSlide. JoomSlide has a rare feature: it turns a nightmare in a dream. Other HS extensions (free and paid) can't get 10% of power and simplicity of JoomSlide.

Juan Miguel is a great coder and an enthusiastic and friendly person: he is working EVERY day at his/our project and he is very collaborative so that I'm pretty sure Joomslide will become a killer application in multimedia (not just images) manager in the next future of Joomla world.

Juan, keep on working!
I have tried every gallery, slideshow and image rotator there is for joomla and this one is the best. The way all the thumbnails are cropped to the same size is aesthetically very pleasing to the eye. Full size images can be any size which is great for photographers that want you to see the images very large. Web designers are always looking for ways to make the user interface maximum simple, the joomslide gallery does just that. Super simple for the end user and most elegant.

The support for this extension is hands down the best I have ever experienced. Juan answered and solved all my problems so fast that I have to say thank you Juan for your support and this excellent extension. Keep up the great work!
Excellent plugin, but I have a problem. My template has Flash in the header. If I click thumb (using this plugin), Mozilla shows full-sized photo correctly, but IE7 not: my flash layer is in the front and full-sized image is behind it.
Owner's reply

I do not think that is a JoomSlide bug. If you check HighSlide FAQ forum, you will find the solution. If that does not work, you can go to JoomSlide support, maybe with more information, we will can fix it.
