I do like the features but there are con's that outweight the great featurelist.
There is absolutely no support. Not that I've seen anyway. Slideshow is not cached which drains server resources.
If there was decent support I'd recomment this to anyone but as with many open source, non commercial software the lack of support is my main reason to abandon this gallery.
Also the rate of development is very slow to non-existent.
Take this as it is, or (like me) leave it....

After almost 2 years of search for a script/extension/you name it , to create a custom covers site i found the PERFECT one.
It is really easy to install , it has configuration for just about ANYTHING , a wide range of possibilities and works flawlessly in my 10.000 unique guests monthly site.
I can't really believe this software is free.. its exactly what i wanted.
Only thing i haven't figured out and i need some help on it, is if i can have a gallery slideshow with some selected pictures (like promote some pictures) . Other than that its PERFECT i 100% recommend it

JoomGallery was extremely easy to install and offered the integrated, full featured, photo gallery I was looking for. I was amazed at how many configuration options were available.
Some configurations took more time to figure out what they affected than others, and, being completely new to the software, it seemed to me that a couple of settings had to be changed in two places and I wasn't sure why, although they were not hard to find.
One item that was not obvious, and undocumented, was how to change the display name of the Gallery page, which needs to be edited in the global Joomla language file. That information was gleaned from the forum pages, and is new with the introduction of Joomla 1.5.
I'm ecstatic about this component, and highly recommend it!

This is definitely the most complete Joomla Photo Gallery component I tried!
It has a lot of parameter! Really! But you can't do without any one of it! Everyone is worth, because they let you manage the gallery at various levels.
Besides, this extension updates itself with a simple click on a link in the backend! Amazing!!! I would like that Joomla core had a link like that to update so quickly!
I know that i'm forgetting something else great that I note about it.

This extension is absolutely awesome -- installs without any grief, gives you all kinds of ways to get your pics online, including FTP if you have a lot of them -- so easy to use! There are a lot of config options so it does take a little while to get it set and displaying just the way you want, but it's definitely worth spending the time. You can even edit the CSS file right in the interface, if you just need to make a quick change, or edit in your own editor and upload -- no attitude problem from the software either way, or you can go with the default settings, it's fairly slick. This might be the best photo gallery I've ever tried, both of the CMS-extension and stand-alone variety -- just unbelievably good.
I was specifically looking for a nice looking photo gallery that allowed special members to upload photos from the front end and this module was exactly what I was looking for. There are many configuration options to customize how you want to display your gallery and I managed to get the look I wanted in minutes. This is an excellent photo gallery module. Highly recommend it!
After years of bridging Gallery I decided to go for a native Joomla solution. After trying several of the top downloaded galleries I choose JoomGallery.
The installation and initial, basic setup is quick and fairly standard. It is in the detailed configuration and complete control you have over every aspect of the user interface and rich set of features that makes this component stand above the rest.
Also a standout is the support supplied by the developer. I had a minor issue getting my gallery to look a certain way and over the course of several days I was in communication with the developer via his support forum and he explained to me how to accomplish what I set out to do. As far as I'm concerned, this is better support than what you normally get with even commercial products.
Highly recommended.

This image gallery pretty much does everything that one could ask for, except for taking the photos for you!
There are a huge amount of options to customize things with, practically everything can be changed around.
5 stars is not enough.
Criticism - humans made this, that is all I can say - what we are getting is way too huge to be expressing any puny pity thing in return..

That is one of the best if not the best Joomla gallery component on this planet!
It offers a very wide range of parametering possibilities! That is a high end work from developers! Besides that! Languages files are available and great! I love the fact that it integrates flawlessly with CB.
Again! A must to have in a joomla website!

I vote for this extension because of its usability at the point of a non-commercial one. Frankly speaking, the backend interface is complicated and takes time to learn how to customize its functions. Some newbies may be confused with the tabs and supporting functions. Overall, it is an excellent extension!!
I wanted to let users upload there own pictures on my website and I thought that I will not find something like that until I came across JoomGallery. This component is simply the best gallery plug-in for Joomla,it is fully packed with all kind of features with a easy interface that allows you to configure everything there is to configure.All I want to say is thank you very much for letting us use such a great component free of charge,it is simply amazing and it works flawlessly!

Except... Everybody is promising support for 3rd party extensions, but it is always a half-support.
I am angry these days about those half-integrations.
Azrul's JomComment, Joomlapolis Community Builder, UddeIM PMS and this component... Every one of them - great stuff... But, integrations or support between them is poor, in most cases just a nice goodnight story.
Except... Everybody is promising support for 3rd party extensions, but it is always a half-support.
I am angry these days about those half-integrations.
