RokSlideshow is a mootools powered JavaScript slideshow that allows you to quickly and easily display a selection of images and transition between them. The slideshow itself is very flexible and easily customizable and offers a great alternative to flash-based solutions.
The slideshow comes in 3 formats. A standalone HTML/JavaScript solution for inclusion in any website or page; A Joomla 1.0 module, and a Joomla 1.5 module. We highly recommend using RokSlideshow in Joomla 1.5 for optimal performance and ease of use.

It's a great module.
However I've got a problem:
If I set up one slideshow on a right module posstion, it works well.
But if I try to set up a second slideshow just below the first one, the second one don't seems to work.
I've tried the same image directory or a different one, but it won't work.
What am I doing wrong?

I have used this extension for a few years with IE8 and other browsers. With IE9 it will no longer load.
The website says mootools 1.11 compatible.
The RokSlideshow forum says this is known and was to be corrected when IE9 was offically released. IE9 RC is released.
This issue has been known for a couple of months. It is still broken with IE9.
I am being forced to look for an alternative when I do not really want to. I suspect this is a Mootools compatibility issue.
Running the site with IE9 compatibility mode does NOT resolve it either. Many sites do respond to this but not Rokslideshow, unfortunately.
I would suggest thet this excellent product needs attention for IE9 as soon as possible.

Loaded the "ROKSlider" into my Joomla website and started to configure. After reading the instructions it seems I need a "loadposition" module to insert the slider into a article. The "loadposition" module, which I have searched everywhere for could not be found, I searched the ROK website and default in Joomla modules. Unable to ask any questions on their support forum as you are not allowed unless you are a paid member of their site.
Looks like a good module, but the documentation seems to let it down and no support - not even forums!

It indeed rocks, feature rich, reliable, great documentation and what else can one ask for.
This module is nice and does what it says just out of the box. However, if you are about to serve a large slideshow be aware that the module needs to preload **all** images **before** it even shows the first image of your slideshow. So, if you have a large slideshow you just stare at an empty space until all your images have been preloaded. This is definitely a very negative experience for your users, so think twice before using RockSlideshow for a large collection of images.
Good module : nice design and do correctly what we expect it to do with many options.
With the system of associated text files, it is quite easy to build automaticaly a slideshow from a photo gallery.
But :
- use a lot of CPU because it scans the image repertory on each page loading
=> need a cache system (quite easy to add via a script hack)
- problem if you have a large number of images and slow connexion = the javascript preload all the images before showing the first one
=> should preload just the first images and load the other in background

I think Rokslideshow would be a great extension, if it could resolve the following:
1) covers submenu items (after changing the menu z-index in the template.css, it works fine for about 30 seconds and then goes under again)
2) is slow to load
Have searched the forums and googled for a solution - there are posts from people with the same problem, but no solution has been posted.
So although I am really excited about this extension, will be a real pity if it can't be used if you're placing it directly under a menu with submenus!

This module is very nice and easy to install..
I'm just running through a layout issue which has been hard to solve.
I have the RokSlideshow loading in front of my logo and I wish to have it loading behind. I've tried the Z-index on the CC but don't know how to do it or on which code should I be messing in.. please can someone help with this?

This extension is easy to install and work right away. had o problems at all. Thanks for this great product.
As other reviewers have noted, this is easy to set up and it works fine. My issue is that a very simple, very expected behavior -- clicking an image in the slide show to go to a page on the site -- does not work well. If you need your slide show images to link to other pages, don't use this extension.
Wow, I am impressed. Maybe even restoring some faith in Joomla community. This module WORKS! Unlike many that don't play well with Google Maps, this worked great, and without any programming.
I installed the module, activated it, and kept waiting for a failure to occur (I think I have tried more than half of the image rotators extensions. Then with a bit of trepidation, I made small changes to the parameters, and IT STILL WORKED! The extra types of transitions are of highest quality, and work the first time..and every time after that.
I usually refuse to even look at modules not updated recently, this one I had not looked at given its lack of updates in the last long while. Then installed and it worked, guess there is no need for an update when you have perfection.
THANK YOU for a great, professional and working module, there are many many, many, many, developers here who should follow you example and leadership. I for one, am thrilled to find such an outstanding feature set and working program in the Joomla extensions.
