I used 1.2 till recently [and was very happy with it] until I noticed this upgrade which I immediately installed on 3 websites I manage. This latest version [1.5] is even better! And the author, Andreas Berger, seemingly ever present with advice and help. The plugin has a useful selection of overrides enabling more than one configurtion of the plugin to be employed. I have not found a better slideshow and only use this one. Great work Andreas! and many thanks.

This is easy to use and gives very pleasing results. I did have a problem when I upgraded from 1.2.1 to 1.4.1 when it stopped working. However Andreas came back in a couple of hours with a fix and it now works fine. Thanks Andreas!

Our client needed a picture viewer to show up in the site articles, and this was the only one I found that did just that...and gave me complete control in how it is used. So far, every question I have had has been answered by Andreas in the comments on his site. The documentation is clear and concise. The only people that might have a hard time with this tool are people that are completely new and don't know much about CSS or getting around in their file systems.

I only have one complaint...that I didn't find this plugin sooner! :)

Thanks,
David

Very straightforward, but with a good range of customization parameters. The only minor issue I had in getting it to work is that the photos must be in a sub-directory under images/stories. Once I moved them there it worked like a charm. That little gem was buried a long way down in the very detailed and comprehensive installation instructions. Good documentation of the override parameters too. Well done - I think this is the best free extension for placing slideshows within articles - most of the others are modules only.

First reason to install this plugin was an excellent installation guide.

After installing nothing works but there was a great support from the developer, Andreas, who find out my problem very quickly.

It was the template theat produced the error. And with the help of Andreas now all is fine.

Thanks a lot for your fast useful help Andreas!

A very simple slideshow plugin for joomla content.

Its strength lies in the simplicity. The management of pictures will take place in joomlas mediamanager.

Thanks a lot for this!

It really help me to insert a photogallery in the article and then in the mainpage of the article.
It's simple to use, even from people that are not too pro with it.

Joomla extensions is like a candy store. Lots of sugar and not all good for you. I've wasted a lot of time trying to find this extension. It deserves an excellent rating for several reasons, it delivers what it promises, it comes with a great tutorial and if that is still not clear Andreas (brettelben.de) comes through with the greatest support. I had a problem (my error) and he took the time to look at my website and found my error.

Simple Picture Slideshow allows you to present your pictures in the content area, in a decent size and include links and captions. What more can you ask for and free. Thanks Andreas.

This slideshow is very easy to use, it's pretty and are very scalable. Simply the best!

I am amazed not only by the great slideshow, but also by the help and support Andreas have given me. I needed some extra functions which i did not have enough skills to do myselves. Asked Andreas to guide me along, and he not just guided me, he created a new file for me which included my needs. I'm blown away, doesn't get any better than this:-)

Thank you so much Andreas!

This extension is just what it promises: simple. You put your photos in a folder under stories, put the folder name in between a tiny piece of code and you're done.
I have found it works best if you drop the code in a table.
A few things to be aware of: I haven't found a way to make this work in a module position yet. You need to find your own icons for "play", "stop" etc. (which is actually pretty cool). Unless I'm missing something, you can't have several slidehows with different paremeters (size, etc).
All in all, however, this is a great little estension that you can have running in minutes.

@ecs

Just to get things right for others reading your review, I wanted to mention that - starting from version 1.3.0 - the Simple Picture Slideshow offers "Parameter Overrides", a feature that allows individual settings for every single slideshow - even when using multiple slideshows on one page.

Best regards
Andreas

This is the best, a little styling inline and perfect! You can also use it more than once in the same page, no conflicts! all this from a "simple" plugin. I'm installing it into all my clients sites, whether they have the need yet or not!

Great Thanks

The objective was clear: I needed a simple slide show tool, that could load images of various sizes in an article and that would work in most browsers. Images should be centered within the slide show and the whole thing floated next to the content. And most of all, my client, who is not very computer savvy, should be able to create them by herself.

So I set out and tested MANY different modules, and they all had one or more limitations: Either the images could not be centered, you needed to jump through hoops to set up the images which were going to be loaded or they would not work in all browsers (without hacks). And all of them would have been to difficult for my client.

I was at the point of giving up and writing my own module, when I came across this fabulous tool, which just WORKS! Nothing more, nothing less.

Simple, consistent and so easy to use. If that is what you are looking for, look no further!

I tried many slideshow modules and plugins in the past few days and many of them had issues: either the slideshow could not be centered

After wasting days with other slide show programs that either required you to jump through too many hoops or advanced CSS/PHP coding skills and endless hacks to work, I gave this one a shot. Works great! Very easy to install and configure. If you're looking for something fast and easy to set up so you can just "get on with it," I highly recommend the Simple Picture Slideshow.

Many thanks to you for this great little plugin. I have been looking for two days for something that would do the job that I wanted it to and checked out almost every non-commercial download in the extensions directory and yours came up with flying colours. Simple and with the brilliant 'How to' instructions the installation went without a hitch. I can highly recommend this plugin to everyone but particulalry to the Newbies. Congratulations! Well done!

I was looking for a simple, light weight slide show extension. This was perfect for me.

I found I made a couple of cosmetic changes that were my preferences. I added a pause button and arranged the buttons as bwd, stop, pause, play, fwd. This is the normal order on a video player.

The simplicity of the code and the speed of the slide show are great. I would recommend this to anyone who wants an easy extension to get started with.

I wanted a slideshow as part of my content and this extension does it. As the author states it is simple but the functionality needed is there, and it is simple to use. Thanks Andreas!
