BK-MultiThumb Plugin

BK-Thumb is a multi-purpose image plugin for Joomla that can automatically create thumbnails and popups of the original images, as well as resize the full-size images or add a watermark to them. It can even scramble the images names so that people cannot guess their original non-watermark locations.

For articles shown in blog mode, it can create a link from the first image to the full article for better user navigation.

It can also create a simple photo gallery from any folder by just including one of the images from the folder and give it the description (alt text) "mt_gallery" (or using the new tagging feature).

See the examples and how-to's below for inspiration and instructions!

Please note that when you use BK-Thumb for the first time on a given page, the server has to process all the images which might take quite some time. The same applies when you clear BK-Thumb's cache.

For upgrade install a new version without uninstalling the previous one.

Thank you very much for fast repair after Joomla 2.5.10 upgrade has arised.
I think it is the best solution for adjusting Joomla Images and links - Intro images, Full article images, which should be in core.
My recommendation: Please upgrade your download section, because anyone don´t read the forum to look for news.

This extension is simply great! It is easy to install and understand. There are many options to choose a preferable one, for example different thumbnails size in articles and blogs, show/not show watermark, etc.
I have Joomla 2.5 and use the BK-MULTITHUMB with the option "Pretty Photo". It generates thumbnails, once clicked it performs auto-slides of original photos which can be stopped any time. I can adjust animation speed, show or not show title, etc. Moreover, I cannot find any original photo in the code (super copyright protection!), just thumbnails are there.
So, this is definitely the best thumbnail plugin I have ever used.

I have been using Multithumb for about 3 years now. I recently upgraded from J1.5 to J2.5 and Multithumb worked perfectly on my site with over 10,000 images files.

An excellent product. Thank you!

Will keep all your site images in uniform size keeping the site tidy and looking professional. The thumbnails can be any size you like. I can even use other galleries with this plugin by putting articles with galleries into a separate category and unselecting it from Multithumb's Categories of articles list. There are plenty of options to choose in all aspects of how images are handled and displayed.

Thanks for a wonderful extension.

I contacted the developer for a small query and received great support.

Multithumb is the right image plugin for bloggers that don't want to waste time processing thumbs, captions and various small or large images. I was looking for a complete solution that reduce my publishing time and bk-multithumb ver 3.1 just works great on Joomla 2.5. Congrats to the developer.

If you work with other BK Tools, this plugin functions perfectly!

I use it with J2.5 and Im resizing pics on my frontpage, showing them in a Joomla modal.

The tool has many options, like: pictures in front page, in articles, how show the picture (shadowbox, lightbox, etc).

My review is: EXCELLENT, but I have to warn that I had problems when using shadowbox, lightbox, etc., sometimes the effect didn't work and the link left my user to another page only with the image, forcing users to use the back button from their browsers. It seems like cant charge 100% of the page, so the users clicks before its complete.

Sorry for my english!

Like some other reviewers I've spent some time checking out several extensions for the job. Most important to me was the ability to put up my settings in the back end so users can upload their image without thinking and have it displayed neatly. Many extensions did not meet this requirement as they are based on in-line codes between curly brackets. This may work for a seasoned web author but not for my average front end user.

BK_Multithumb gives the site admin an overwhelming amount of parameters to set, and the user can upload whatever picture he likes - it is taken care of. Very good job, just what I needed.

Now I must admit I did not have the time yet to test this extension thoroughly. Also, I've used it on a J1.5 site only so far. That is the reason why I rated it 'Good'. But the concept is excellent and I have not experienced any issues.

I spent a whole afternoon searching for plugins to resize images from articles which should be displayed in blog-layout pages on a Joomla 2.5 site in unified size. I tested about 4 or 5 plugins that promised to do that but each had some serious drawbacks, so that I eventually could not use it. Then I found "BK Multithump". Dispite its awkward name, this was my personal salvation today, really. "BK Multithump" has plenty of settings (which I will need some time to check all of them), however, what I needed (a plugin to render resized images exclusively on blog pages, without messing around with other stuff) worked flawlessy directly after just installing the plugin and telling it the desired image size. Links from the thumbnails to the original articles do also work.

Thank you for this great extension.

(I had found it earlier had it a more "telling" name... something like "BK Imageresize" or so...

Kind regards,

This is the very best, by far, of all relevant extensions.
This along with the help of a separate tags extension have saved me from moving to an independent CCK extension, which to my mind would only cause me trouble.

This is so indispensable that it should become part of the core Joomla extensions...

The article generation process is the one that has lagged behind in Joomla, like hdd were slowing down PCs, and this extension, part of the core or not, allows it to make leaps of progress.

It is so versatile I can only call it thoughtful of writers' needs.

I really wish it would be updated to work without any issues with Joomla 2.5

I've been facing two problems:

1) The Slimbox popup is broken for me, it will lead me to a new page with just the image, but the strange thing is that if I click back then it works, but only on second try on all articles, so I can't really use it

2) I can't get the image description to appear with Slimbox on the popup underneath the image, no matter what setting I try.

I really do like the Slimbox engine cause it is so much lighter than the rest and more neutral.

Small issues with a couple of other popup engines (like the image description not showing in full, falling behind the image)....really just small polishing that might need to be done to make for an absolutely perfect extension (I recognize in full the efforts of the developer here, not trying to undermine the amount of work put in already or needed)

This is a very nice little extension. It installed easily, and works as specified.

I had a little trouble getting it all going, but once I got all the setting correct for my desired functionality, it works beautifully!

Thanks for a very nice extension, and thank you for the non-commercial price of $0.

How flexible can a very simple extension be? Well, look at BK MultiThumb. Its purpose is very simple - resize images to a specified size, a different one in blog view vs in article view and display the image in lightbox when clicked (if configured so).
Again, this seems to be a very simple feature but it's critical to the user experience so that all images are sized identically on the page even if the authors mess up the sizing. And you can turn it off in selected articles or modules by entering a short piece of code.
Can't believe this is not part of core Joomla!
