Exposé bridge Popular ComponentModuleLanguage

Exposé is a Flash-based tool which allows you to create eye-catching slide shows of your pictures on the web. A list of the features supported by exposé includes the following:

- direct linking to a photo or album
- a slide show can be automatically started
- a background/foreground image can be loaded
- more interface elements can be now customized
- smoother Interface
- iframe has been removed, full php integration
- easier to adjust the size using only the expose.html.php
- improved background color adjustments
- check_system.php script added for troublshooting
- supports SEF URL's (being re-worked currently, limited functionality)
- upload/add background image through Joomla backend

The small footprint of the Flash clips and an intelligent loading of resources allow even dialup users to have a seamless experience viewing your photos. exposé is FREE for personal use.

The PHP Album Manager has very strict system requirements but is not needed to add new pics to you gallery (this is just another option if you have these extensions on your server). You can also install the Windows (or Mac) Album Manager found here: http://www.slooz.com/trinkets.php

After you have downloaded the Album Manager login to your server via FTP and change directory to [JoomlaRoot]/components/com_expose and copy down the expose folder to your desktop or anywhere you know where to access it at. Lastly, open your Newly installed Album Manager and it will ask you where you expose folder is, just point it to that folder and you can edit away.

After you are done when you close the album manager it will ask you if you would like to save your configurations, Click "YES" and then re-upload the folder and you are all set. Create a Joomla Menu pointing to that component and it will look awesome!

This component is a bridge to the Expose Gallery found here http://www.slooz.com This bridge is released as GNU/GPL but expose is under its original author's license agreement found here, http://slooz.com/trinkets.php?proj=expose If you have any questions please feel free to leave comments and/or suggestions in the forums listed below.

To those who had reported problems with the backend: Please make sure that your server has all the required packages/libraries installed.
My Fedora Core 2 server was missing php-domxml.
A simple "yum install php-domxml", followed by restarting Apache fixed the problem. Check with your distribution what needs to be done to install the missing libs.
Where can you find the requirements? Right after you install Expose in Joomla it will tell you.

This is a fantastic extension, and I'd highly recommend it!
Installation was quick and very easy, taking only a few minutes - and it worked first time!
For someone like myself who gets completely lost in code this is a fantastic way to get a very professional looking multimedia gallery. It's the part of my site that gets the most comments!
The only issue I had was the width of the gallery. I was using a fixed width 800x600 template and ended up with scrollbars galore. After changing to a dynamic width template (at 1024x768) MOST of these problems went away. I did end up having to make some changes to a few files to resize it.
Even with limited coding knowledge this still wasn't too difficult, and help is available on the developers site.
Overall - brilliant! I love it!

I was a bit hasty in my previous review of this component. It does work, but only if the following php extensions are present:
GD, DOMXML (aka DOM/XML) and iconv.
If these extensions are not in place the backend will not work.

In case your host do not support all 3 php extensions you have the option to use a client on your windows or mac instead to generate your albums. Here's what you need to do:
1. Go to: http://www.slooz.com/trinkets.php
2. Download album manager for windows
3. Install album manager on your pc > Start album manager > define a expose folder, example: \my documents\my pictures\expose
4. Create a album and import files
5. Have a look in \my documents\my pictures\expose folder you should find two folders; img and xml
6. Create ftp connection to your site, navigate to joomla-dir/component/com_expose/
7. Delete joomla/component/com_expose/img and joomla/component/com_expose/xml or empty the two directories
8. Transfer your album via ftp by copying \my documents\my pictures\expose\my album\xml and \my documents\my pictures\expose\my album\img to joomla/component/com_expose/

This component looks really neat in the frontend and the sample video and photos work on my site.

But the backend does not work. When trying to access the component I enter the password, but nothing happens I'm stuck at the Expose Component login page, in the Joomla adminstration.

I'm using Joomla 1.0.8 and Firefox.

The current expose front end looks really nice.

Additional ideas:
Would be great to enable comments from registered users of the site, or annonymous users. Also password protection of folders would be neat. Or public folders or folders that require site registration would be neat.

I can't get the manager to let me log in. I even changed the password in the php to see if I could get logged in, but no luck. If the manager was working I think I would really like this gallery. I've been thinking about writing exactly this thing using amfphp and flash, so expose4 beat me to it!

It looks very impressive on the front-end but the admin/manager does not work. I have tried using IE as well as FireFox but no luck. I'm on "Joomla! 1.0.7 Stable [ Sunburst ] 15-Jan-2006 20:00 UTC." How would the module from the admin point of view work?
