You will need to download Shadowbox Media Plugin from http://www.softforge.co.uk or another lightbox plugin/module that recognizes lightbox or shadowbox rel attribute in order to use the shadowbox view.
JQuery is also required for effects to work. Visit the help section on general use, and to get the full benefits of XGallery download the modules and plugin in the download section.

This component offers so much freedom and flexibility to your gallery that you can create almost any type of web based gallery site.
From start I had problems creating collections but they were my honest mistakes of not reading the FAQ's properly. If you do use this Component you must select the link itself and not the actual image/folder for it to work correctly when selecting thumbnails and folders for your gallery.
The support I receive is fantastic and with the little hacks I requested from the developer my site is now looking so much better than any image component out there.
The ease of this component to me makes possibilities endless I have been using joomla for over 5 years now and haven't come across a gallery component such as xgallery that offers the requirements I need.
Try a few trial and errors with this component and you will not be disappointed as it has many setting for you to configure like I have. Your limit is only your imagination.

This SOUNDS amazing, possibly better than Phoca Gallery (although PG may have the edge due to having a range of further extensions) - BUT it's very difficult to install due to it's huge file size (2.62 Megs). I should be able to install the old fashioned way (upload via FTP & use the "Install from Directory" method) but if you're looking for one that's easy to install you've opened the wrong page... :-/

It's doubtful the installation failure has anything to do with the file size. I have this component installed on multiple website and have worked with other website owners to help configure their websites. They did not mention the install failing because of file size. Most likely it is a problem with your setup or your browser. I don't know if you email for help, but the only other person that emailed me saying they couldn't installed the component asked me to log into their back-end and when I did, the component installed flawlessly.
There are many components with so many features and settings.
Personally, i never had to use all these feature for my site or my clients.
xgallery has just the right amount of settings and it simply works!
The easiness of use is great when you install it for your client project as it makes it easier to train the client and clients loves it cause it so simple to use.
Although no support forum can be found, the developer answered my email really quickly.

I have made a lot of websites for people and I always cringe when my clients ask me for a photo gallery. Every gallery I have tried to use for my clients sites are either too simplistic not offering enough features or way too complicated requiring hours for trying to figure it out and set up.
Then I found XGallery. It has every thing I need a gallery to do and doesn't make it hard to use.
With this gallery I have full control over my galleries and how they displayed and I don't need to spend an entire day of work learning how to use it.
And the author of this component is awesome! When I first installed it there was a conflict from RokModuleOrder plugin preventing jquery to load with my site and the author took some time to figure it out for me. Much praise from me to this extension and the author.
I will definitely be buying the pro version when it comes out.

I've been using XGallery for a while and let me tell you, it's a great peace of work! Simple to install, simple to configure and one important thing: It really works. The support is also a 5 starts rating, quick, Dana gives a lot of attention and always try to help you, even when the problem doesn't seem related to XGallery itself. Great job!

I was looking for a stylish photo gallery without too much animation. I found xGallery. It is very easy to install. One can use different filters in the categories and collections to display different. I havent tried the modules yet becsuse I don´t need them. But as I saw on the demo site they could be very usefull if you wanna show an overview of all your galleries. Unfortunately the shadowbox only displays the name of the category above the photo if you click on the thumbnail. But I needed to display the name of each photo in the shadowbox. I got an excellent and fast support how to configure it manual. This feature should be included in the following versions of xGallery.

Hi, thanks for the review. The option to display the name of the image name will be in the next update.
When you manage your collection, you have to chose the FOLDER...ok but there is ONLY the "cancel" button.

Hi, you also have the option to upload a zip file of images if you are not ftping your collection folders to the server. Please read the Documentation, or at the very least the FAQ because your problem was answered there. Thanks for the comment and rating.
Tried installing and everything seem to install fine. When I try to add a thumbnail to a collection it takes me to the media gallery and when I click on the images I want it just gives me the location of the images. Tried to upload a folder and said the path was not writable (even though it is) and finally tried to select a folder for the images in a collection and it again takes me to the folder but only with cancel and help to choose from, no "select" button.

Hi, it doesn't look like you looked at the documentation, read the FAQ, read any of the messages that display in the admin section or sent me an email asking for help. When you install XGallery for the first time, please read the text that's displayed on successful install. That is important. If you still plan to use this component and need further help, please send an email.
Hello! First off i would like to say that this module has made my day! I have been searching for a photo-gallery module for a few weeks now and every single one i downloaded seem to have some kind of flaw. This one just worked instantly, is easy to configure and there are just soo many options! I can go on and on about how great this module is but i need to get to the point: My thumbnails aren't working! I now have two media-managers, one from Joomla, and one from XGallery. Even the thumbnails within the mediamanager from xgallery arent working, i get red crosses. The one from Joomla still works perfectly. Also on my website i have a working gallery, working photo's but again: no thumbnails.. how can i fix this?

Hi, thanks for the review. You might find the answer to your problem, under the Frequently Asked Question of the documentation for XGallery. If not I already sent you an email asking for more clarification and to offer suggestions. Let me know if any of these suggestions work.

Thanks for taking the time to register and post. :) I will have a new module ready in a couple days (XGAllery Collection) that will allow you to add a collection to any location you can add a module.
I have been looking for a nice Gallery. This does what it was it says and more. VERY easy to install and work with. As a retired programmer of 23 I have seen a lot of code that was just thrown together. This I must say is very well written. Please by all means keep up the good work and I look forward to your updates.
