My Business Partner found this Module, we needed a way to creatively if not just slide pictures in a frame and when clicked forward to a url. There where other issues we had to deal with as well, my server isn't up to PHP 5.4 yet and this module still worked!
Cons:
1) Limited to 10 pictures..
2) Little difficult at first to understand settings.
Pros:
1) Can place pictures in desired order
2) Once understood, super easy to use and change fast!
3) pictures do not have to be in the same folder
4) pictures slide, disappear, shuffle, all kinds of directions and random to mix them up is an option too.
5) adjustable size to fit.. We adjusted ours probably 3 times to fit three different situations.
6) installs as easy as any other module. browse for and click install.
7) near forgot part of the difficulty is there are lots of options.. Options to me, add slower start but can't be a negative, they expand the opportunity to adapt.
I think the toughest part was figuring it out in the beginning but once used, we keep finding ways to use it.. Currently it's showing funny pictures and text.. next use will be hopefully kitchen sinks and counter tops..
We tried finding something else as good even for paid but, without being able to try it out, it's hard to say what is worth paying for and what isn't... This was free and now we've tried it, with more spaces, it would be worth paying for. Like 10 pictures free and more like 20-25 pay $10-$20.. It is my favorite so far!!

Great extension !!!
Simple Spot Light is very easy to configure and simple to use slide show module. Any one without reading any king of manual or going through any tutorial can easily configure this module within seconds. I have downloaded, installed and configured it in less that a minute.
I has very useful facility to upload the banner images from the module itself, so now you dont even have to go to media manager to upload your banner images, you can do it from the module itself.
I love the simplicity of this module.
Great work. Module like this makes developing joomla websites fast and easy.

I needed an image rotator that would load quickly, and used images rather than relying of flash or pseudo-flash.
Encouraged by the reviews I installed this one. Worked real nicely. You upload your images to the module's image directory and then, within the module choose which images you want and what order, as well as an overall transition.

Professional looking, and size conforms to the site. Easy to use, and compatible with Joomla 1.5-1.7

Excellent transitions effects and easy to use. The best part was we could upload and add images directly from the module settings.
I've never seen that in other modules we used as they called images off a specific folder. Therefore your module is much easier to customize and setup i guess.

It's truly one of those great modules - it does the job with little fuss or effort. I've used others and this one is a dream. Yes, I did have a small problem (my own stupidity!) but my query was answered promptly in the support forum.
If there is one thing that would make this even better, it would be the ability to apply image titles or captions.

Superb, easy to install, simple to configure and is clearly miles better than any commcercial image rotator out there. Dont waste your money on second best when you can have the champion of slide shows.

A very nice module with some nice effects but as far as I can determine it doesnt show the transparency when using .png graphcs, other than that thanks for coding this for free.

It does show transparent png files correctly, but they will only work with certain transitions due to the way the transitions work. You will need to test different settings until you get the desired results.
The extension is easy to implement, and allows the end user (my customer) to update settings through the back end. Previously, this customer had an image rotator that required template changes every time the wanted to change the image. This made the process much simpler. I had a minor CSS problem after installation, but - as noted by others - Dan provided fantastic support and got me up and running. I will *absolutely* be using more extensions from these folks.
i m giving excellent rating for this because of the nice transitions... however i noticed there is a shadow that gave me some hard time to find... in mod_ppc_simple_spotlight.php line 107... this should be placed in the css... however perfect job guys!!!
very good module - perfect for sliding images, very easy to use- only thing which could be better: allow to show a text to the current image (shown on website)

I did have a slight issue with image displacement in a certain module position. However, once I submitted a ticket, Dan (the developer) got back to me almost immediately and spent about an hour fixing the issue(s) for me. I have never had such good support from a developer and I commend him for his unmitigated generosity.
The banner now looks great and works perfectly.

One of the best I've tried. Free to download, easy to install & configure, no compatibility problem like many other javascript based modules. Excelent! One thing I'd like to see in the next update is ability to switch off "link URL" per image. Overall, it's pretty cool! Thanks! :-)
