At first JA Comment didn't work with Joomla 1.6.3. I submitted a support ticket and within 12 hours the problem was fixed. Very professional support and the app works nicely.

Running Joomla 1.6.3, this extension didn’t work at all. The documentation is for Joomla 1.5. The support forum was locked in January 2010 so I can’t ask report the problem or ask for help setting it up.

No US shipping or credit card gateway

The only way to process credit cards is via PayPal. That's OK with me. There's no module to calculate shipping costs in the United States, such as UPS, USPS, FedEx, etc. The developers say they're working on this. So my customers are getting free shipping. The shopping cart works and was easy to set up.

Concerning credit cards processing, that's just not true. HikaShop includes more that 10 different payment plugins. Of which, moneybookers, authorize.net and alertpay are all valid alternatives to paypal in the USA.

Concerning shipping, we started working on a UPS shipping plugin as you said. It will come. In the mean time, you can use the manual shipping methods plugin to manually enter your shipping rates. You don't have to let your customers have a free shipping.

Please remember that HikaShop starter is an extension that we provide for free. We have an API to develop plugins so if you're missing a plugin, you can develop it or have it developed for you.

Simple Review
I couldn't get the user-generated reviews function to work on my Joomla 1.6 website. I.e., it works pretty good if I write all the reviews, but the point was to let my website's visitors write reviews. Also the layout and style is ugly. It's dominated by large black graphics that say "URL not available." These are supposed to be pictures of the things you have reviews for, but if you review things that don't have pictures there's no easy way to switch off the app's demand for pictures. Maybe there's a way to go into the template and comment out a line of code but I gave up. One feature that works well is that users can comment on the reviews you write.

We are working on ways to make editing templates easier as well as providing more prettier templates. Removing the image is very easy and we would be happy to point anyone wishing to do so in the right direction.
