I have been using Joomla for years and have created several sites using it. I have looked at other Joomla components, such as Mosets, but find SOBI2 to be the best. It has a good support forum and community of developers that have created plug ins and other add ons that mean that there is always help and the potential to develop your directory beyond the basics. I like the fact that you can assign each field in the form to being either free or charge whatever figure you like for inclusion. Makes it great for allowing people to pay only for what they want to pay for.
On the downside it should have a Captcha facility built in and have had a battle with spam over the years. That said I know there are workarounds for this.
Great work guys! Glad to see that there is a new version in development that addresses some of the shortcomings.
