This .net application in C# and plugin is a fantastic tool. It looks easy enough to use to edit pages and add pages. Obviously managing modules and so forth is something else entirely and would require a lot more development.
My concerns however are only a couple and perhaps minor.
When everything syncs it does take a while and this is true if you only changed the authors alias.
The extensions > Plugin , Modules within the editor are a little unclear. At first I thought these were for the site when it then appeared to be for the editor itself. Maybe this could be labelled more clearly?
My Biggest concern though is that the application contacts a (or perhaps a couple) of sites constantly other than my own. The one ip that kept jumping up was 208.69.34.230 on port 80. Within a 5 minute period it had already pipped 20mb of data to this IP. Now the IP traces back to google and I didnt wait round for any others to appear. But my question is why ? I can understand connecting to the authors site to register a product and to download updates (when I choose to) but why a constant connection elsewhere?
What makes it a little more unnerving is that no firewall can block this action. Using Eset and being a verified partner in supplying and training eset I know how to blocka dn unblock items, but somehow Joomla Remote was able to bypass the firewall and carry right on.
Perhaps this may be nothing at all, but as someone who deals with network and computer security on top of many other things it is something I question as the security of my site is very important to me and any possibility at there being a leak or an interception of data traffic which could compromise the security of my site is something I would frown upon.
This plugin and application still get a high rating from me however due to what it is capable of. I ust hope that the developers are able to cease communications with other sites and IP's other than the users own website for not only peace of mind but also security reasons.
