Ignite Gallery
This is by far the best photo gallery component available for Joomla as far as I'm concerned. I have used all the free galleries available and they all have their own merits. obviously if you're on a budget than anything free is good, especially if it works. However, this gallery component is just fantastic. I love the ease of uploading photos, you can do 100 photos in less than a couple of minutes. using the plug-in all module enables you to put individual galleries into articles. Absolutely brilliant. And this component doesn't come with annoying back links that you can't get rid of.
Universal AjaxChat
I have been using this software for just over a week now and I do not have words to describe how completely and utterly awesome it is. I have been using JFP Chat for a couple of years and it has done a good job. However, there is absolutely no comparison between JFP and the software, I don't mean to be disrespectful to the other developer I just love this chat room software so much, as do all of my members. Whereas the chat room really didn't get used much before, everyone is in it all the time now. Don't look at any other chat room software, this is the one to go fof. Yes, it is commercial, but it is quite cheap and worth every penny. And good support from the forums, not that I've needed much, everything works straight out of the box for me.

mfBlank
Seems to do what essays on the box. However it would be 10 times better if it worked on the links in the links component of Joomla. Most of my links are contained in this area. Hopefully this will be implemented in the future, it would then get a 10 out of 10 from me

I could only find a handful of blogs available. This one was by far the best if all you want is a simple way of blogging. Obviously it's not going to be all singing and dancing like WordPress so be aware of that.

The other thing you need to take into account is that if you write a long blog with lots of paragraphs, when you submit, you will just have one large block of text. There is an extremely simple way around this even if you have absolutely no knowledge of HTML. Use a website editor such as Dreamweaver. Create an HTML page and write your blog, or paste it in from WordPad. Then just copy all the text from the code view. When you paste it into your blog, all your paragraphs will bein place. No need to put in the HTML manually.

This is a really excellent blog, I really like it
