Simple Random Quotes
I wanted a quick and easy random quote module and this one was up and running in no time. The module allows you to put in 9 "emergency" quotes for when the text file isnt found which was actually all I needed. It does allow for a text file with as many as you need. The only upgrade I can think of is to ajax the quotes so they change on the page, but as it stands, this is a great little module. Thanks and hat tip to the author!

CQI - CustomQuickIcons
We develop sites for many types of clients, many of which have very little comfort or skill at using the Joomla backend.

This administrator component allows us to create customized admin icons in the backend for each user type and pinpoint the website management workflow and useability for our clients.

The less the client knows, the more you need this.

Danny's MVC Component Generator
This saves TONS of time and works better than expected. The framework installs perfectly and the database fields included are simply high-five awesome. The only drawback is it is such a great tool but is web-based and no way to save it locally for a rainy day or if the webpage goes away as they all eventually do.. so for now.. THANK YOU and keep this tool up!!!

Module Wizard
The heart is there, but the implementation isnt quite yet, at least for creating modules, which is what I was looking for.

The first clue is that you have to download and manually copy files around to include the necessary templates into the application to create a module. This takes some reading and a little bit of trial and error.

The module creator is actually an add-on to the IDE and when selected pops up in a new window. (Its a local program, not web based).

Little things like being able to add a parameter and not remove it, clicking export and playing the folder game each time to tell it where to go are all signs of early development and will hopefully improve over time.

Im not sure why, but I experienced locked file issues when trying to delete test modules and in Joomla got an error saying the files/folders still exited after deleting and reinstalling a different module version. I created the same name and files by hand and install/reinstalled with no prob and decided it was time to move on.

I like the standalone, not on the web app for this and I think with more work on functionality and user experience this could do well, but for me, it falls just short.

VirtueMart
Installed from scratch 2 times, spent 3 days trying to make a simple paypal order work. For those of you who made it work, congrats. My 10 years of web development didnt get me through a basic install that would work. Good Luck.
