Excellent extension. Beware which version

This extension perfectly replaced a homegrown client portal. Granular user permissions to a folder level. But be aware of a got'cha. The newest version 3.0 has many more features than 2.5. But this is not an upgradable extension per the developer. And because this extension stores files inside the database and not in a folder, if you want to upgrade to take advantage of Joomla 1.6 framework enhancements, you're basically stuck with starting over. And when you have 200+ files totaling 1.5 GB and 40 users, that's no small task. Bottom line. Run 3.0 on Joomla 1.6. Otherwise this extension performs wonderfully.

As far as I'm concerned anyone that works this hard on a free extension for the Joomla! community deserves kudos. This product, in particular, works very well, installs easily and does everything as advertised. The only thing that prevents me from giving Alphacontent 5 stars is the almost non-existent support options. The folks who've commented on this point are correct. The forum on the authors website is mostly folks asking unanswered questions. Bottom line, this is the slickest directory extension for Joomla! But if you run into a problem, expect some challenges when it comes to solutions. But what do you want for FREE?

This has to be, hands down, the easiest extension I've ever installed into Joomla! Flawless and super easy to configure. Literally 5 clicks and typing the city name I wanted for default and I was up and running. Good job!
