I had a very specific situation where I was looking for a blogging software upgrade for a Joomla! project I had been working on. First I tried doing an article blog with a 3rd party commenting system. It didn't really work. I decided I needed to add stronger blogging functionality to the site and that I would probably need to purchase 3rd party software. Several of the functionality examples my client gave me were WordPress websites, and I didn't want to rebuild her website in WordPress.

I took a chance on this software. It is perfect, and perfectly solved everything I needed. The support is also incredible. From pre-sales questions, to post-install customization requests; A+++ Support.

2 negatives which I think adversely affect the product however: after purchase of software, author tags have to be manually removed (there shouldn't be author back-links in commercial software in my opinion). And also the author attempts to sell the product as a re-occurring yearly subscription, which is somewhat mis-leading, and I almost didn't buy the product because of this. After poking around in the fine details, I found that you can cancel the subscription, and it's not required.

Overall rating for me is 4.8 out of 5!! Thanks!

I don't mind paying a few or even a lot of bucks if the extension will help me on a specific task. This was exactly the case for me with this extension.

It installs easily, and there was great set-up documentation at the developer site to make sure it would configure properly to my PayPal account.

I do wish there was a way to reset the download counter on the back-end without deleting the download, and reloading it. Maybe something for the wish-list??

This is a very nice little extension. It installed easily, and works as specified.

I had a little trouble getting it all going, but once I got all the setting correct for my desired functionality, it works beautifully!

Very nice job on the extension. So simple to install, enable, and customize. I found no hidden back-links in the extension (a normal thing for free stuff) and of course the non commercial price of zero dollars was awesome, thanks a bunch!

But....people....This still doesn't stop someone from disabling javascript and reloading page which brings back the right click abilities. Also, there is no way to disable print-screen. So anyone will a little computer skills are still going to get their hands on your images. Watermarking the images are your next best defense.

This is a terrible extension. While it appears that some people have had some success, read through the comments. You need to have some working knowledge of apache to properly route the dns.

The 1.6 download doesn't work at the developer site. After contacting the developer he sent me a new link to a beta version. It doesn't work either.

The documentation is terrible, and there are no clear guidelines for setting up this extension. I can't waste anymore time troubleshooting it and debugging it. I am going to search for a new option instead.

Very nice work. Easy to use extension. This adds functionality to 1.5 which is already integrated in the core of 1.7. There are no hidden links or spam, just a straight up nice product.

This is simply a modified version of the Nivo javascript slider. It works very easily in Joomla!. I love it.

I do however wish you had a support forum and/or a tutorial video available for the slider. I can't figure out how to load the slider in the main content of the template. Instead I but it in the breadcrumbs position and it works perfect. However, should I ever need to use the breadcrumbs, I then won't be able to use the slider. Perhaps I missed something altogether.

The extension is good and bad.

The Good: It seems to be a powerful extension. It preforms as described. I received a quick response on the forum to a specific issue.

The Bad: It's very expensive, almost $80 USD. This is not for beginners or even intermediate users, it has a steep learning curve. I would say I am a 6 out of 10 in terms of joomla skill level, and I found it somewhat difficult to get fully operational. After 10-12 hours of working with the extension and watching tutorial videos, it does perform as described.

This extension does some things really well. It's easy to set up, and quick to get rolling.

I paid for the full version, and it has bugs. There is no support from the developers...I'm not sure they even check their own forum.

The extension is a 3 out of 10 for me.

I love the extension, specifically because I was looking for an editor that had a spell check feature.

Pros: Works really well, easy to use, nice functionality
Cons: Has some issues with Firefox

One suggestion would be to include a note with the installation reminding people to select the new editor under the Global Configuration. This tricked me, and it took a few searches to learn how to enable the editor within my site.

A small cost goes a long way. I gave up on free .mp3 plugins, finally chose this one. It is awesome. Plus he offers instructional videos for installing and customization.
