JooTabs
I tested this module on Joomla! 1.0.15 today. It is very easy to use and support up to 10 modules. I also see the mouseover-change effects. Fabulous! But I did not see the automated change effect, though the backend has this parameter.

If it is a bug, please fix it. I also suggest to support up to 15 modules, maybe someone need more tabs. Thanks to the author.

Tabs & Sliders
This Tabs module is very easy to use. But it lacks of two important features: 1. Open tab on mouseover. 2. Automated tabs change.

Anyway, this is still a very good module. Thanks to the authors.

RWCards
This is a very good component. I hope the author can improve the uploading feature, since if we have too many categories of e-cards, why not create sub-folders for each category ?

In addition, I think use Flash video file (.swf) to make E-cards is more beautiful. Please add support for SWF videos. When the receipient got the notification mail, he can click the link inside the mail to go to our website to watch the SWF video.

Thanks.

This is a good idea to insert footnotes and endnotes automatically. But this plugin has no multi-language support, so the title Footnotes can't be translated.

Hope the author will add some parameters to control the style of footnotes, such as put a horizontal line above the footnotes, just like that in a hard-copy book; and give different font and color to footnotes texts; and empty margin below the last footnotes to make it separated from the page footer texts.

Thanks.
Owner's reply

The HTML generated by the footnotes plugin has IDs and Classes for hooking onto with CSS. I try to keep the generated HTML as clean as possible, so that people can style as they like. I would suggest using CSS to add the features you want.

Core Design Ajax Vote plugin
I would like to rate this one 5 stars but I can't, because it simply doesn't work!

I installed this plugin on my Joomla! 1.5.6, and installed the Scriptegrator plugin. Surely I had enabled both plugin and select jQuery JS to yes in Scriptegrator plugin. But it just refuses to show up the stars!

Communicator
This is a very good Newsletter component. I gave it 4 stars because I found something need to be improved.

1. The frontend can't use my language file, though I had already uploaded my Chinese translation. At the same time, the backend can use my language file. So the author should check the mechanism of frontend multi-lingual support.

2. When I choose All from the Display # list at frontend, this component said "No results were found", but when I chose the number of 5, it can show me the sample newsletter there. Then, do you mean All can't include the one showing in 5 ?

3. The author offered language file for the module, but I can't find those parameters in this language file. Please add them so I can make a complete translation.

Thanks to the author(s)!

LinX
Thanks for letting us use this component for free. But the function is poor.

Please add some new features, such as thumbnail/snapshot for links, user rating/vote, visitor's review/comment.

There is also a bug: When I set my own link description in Chinese words, they were turned to unreadable symbols at frontend of this component. That means this component does not support utf-8 encoded double-byte characters.

Version Manager
This is a very good component to manage versions! I have some suggestions:

1. This component orders versions based on the Version Number entered by user, but if I entered a non-numerical character for version number, it also accepted. I think this field should ONLY allow numerical and decimal value.

2. the RSS content for links shows unreadable symbols for description text, I mean, it may not support UTF-8 encoding.

3. When input the URL, if no http:// , then the frontend will show as http://yourdomain/VERSIONMANAGER-URL. Could you please make it to work no matter the user entered http:// or not?

Thanks.

Ozio Gallery
This is a very beautiful photo gallery component! I can't help being excited to translate it into Chinese language.

I noticed that the author is planning to add Separate Album feature in the future version, that will make this component even better !
Ignite Gallery
I tried to translate this component, but found that it can't pick up the correct language file according to the site language settings. Even when I checked the preferences of this component, I found that my new translation was not included in the language list!

Hope the author use .ini file format for language files instead of php format. This is the standard format for Joomla! 1.5 native extensions.

Second problem is, when I tried to create a new menu item of this component and save it, it can't be saved in IE7 browser. I was forced to change to FireFox browser and then I can save it. I hate been compelled to use FireFox!!
Owner's reply

I have added .ini language translation to the feature list. At the moment the php translations work fine. Any extra translations can be included by simply putting the language file name into the config.xml file.

The component also works fine with Internet Explorer. Out of 1500 downloads this is the only user that has complained with and Internet Explorer Issue. However the user is convinced the component has the error, not themself, and has chosen to complain here, instead of following the issue up in the support forum, where I am happy to help with.

I like the style of hide many bookmark links behide the single button. But when clicked, it will open the link in current window. That is to say, this plugin will take visitors away from my website. This is very bad. why not open link in new window?

The second problem is, this plugin did not offer multi-language support. Though there is not too much language strings on the interface, it is better to make it multi-lingual.
Owner's reply

Hi-
Thanks for the feedback. I am working on a new version now that will address both of your concerns, plus some other features. Please check back in a few days for an updated release.

Template Toolbar
I had tried another Joomla! 1.5 template tool in mxp format for Dreamweaver MX, but it can't be installed into my Dreamweaver CS3. So I gave it up. This one can work with ANY editor since it only generate code and put them into the clipboard, then user can paste the code into any editor.

Cool! Now I can use some OpenSource HTML/php editor to design my Joomla! 1.5 template.

Thanks to the author!
MultiAds
This plugin can insert Ads code automatically into your articles. It also can insert other code! After the author added the ability of excluding certain categories in the latest version, I think this plugin should be installed on each Joomla! 1.5.x.

Great job! Thanks to Joe.

AContact Manager
I tested this component today. There is an obvious bug in this component: when I choose category for an contact, it can't list the category created by itself in the drop down menu, but show me the categories from the Original Joomla! Contact component.

Another problem is, this component uses many language strings that similar to the Original Joomla Contact component, so why re-creat the wheel? Why not just use those language strings in the language file for Original Contact component? You know that this will save many time for translators.

Embeding video and Google Map inside the contact page is a good idea, but there is no instructions for how to do this. It just make users more confused.
Owner's reply

Thanks's a lot for your feedback

. Solved the category bug you'll need to redownload.

. Translators are wellcome ,
only few strings are added to the original, sorry for the extra work,

. You are right again configuration instructions are needed
I'm writing something.

Rquotes
This is a good component for Joomla! 1.5.x to show random quotes. It is very easy to use. So I made a Chinese language translation for it since the new version has the multi-lingual interface support.

If the author can add a new feature to allow user creating or editing categories, it will be better.

DISQUS Comments
I want to use Disqus plugin. But I noticed that the frontend interface of Disqus comment system has no multi-lingural support, it only shows English language. And the Disqus plugin can't choose specified section or category. Not good.
Owner's reply

I'm guessing that the DISQUS people have plans to open their service to other languages as well. You can contact them directly if you want on this post:
http://disqus.disqus.com/integrating_disqus_on_joomla/

Regarding display options, we will roll out v1.2 soon (along with the J!1.0.x version) which will feature the ability to filter where you want the comments to appear. ;)

Security Images
SecurityImages is a good component, the author must had put much more efforts in the development. But it requires hacks to the Joomla! core files and other 3rd party extensions which want to use this CAPTCHA engine. I think these hacks will creat difficulties for later updates. This is just like cut foot to fit the boot.

Maybe a better solution is to add CAPTCHA engine to the Joomla! core. I mean, let Joomla! has its own CAPTCHA component and plugin and API. Then any 3rd party extension can call and show security code if it was coded to use this API.

Thanks for your efforts, hope Joomla! team will add this feature soon.
