It's a great concept and other people have not had issues. With that said, I have used this ext. with other joomla developers and we have had the same issues. (I use godaddy, she uses a variety of hosts.)
Shortly after install I had a malware hit on my ultra secured server. Godaddy was nice enough to clean it off after a bit of harassing (and finding they had a ninoplas.com malware issue on wordpress sites.)
I did not think it was sexybookmarks that opened the hole, but after speaking with other joomla developers, they had a similar scenario. I'd beware and be sure to upgrade immediately.
--> Also, once I uninstalled the sexybookmarks plugin, they still appeared in some articles. After picking around, I was able to hide them, but they might still be in the code somewhere.
Obviously others have had a different experience, but that was mine.
Outside of those issues, I loved the design and functionality of the bookmarks.
