Hi, just want to confirm what other people say. The free Gtranslate module works perfect and is easy to install. You just need to select a good position for the flags in your template (we used the 'banner') and choose which languages to use. It is powered by google translation services but heads up they improved much more since the beginning. We tested few languages which we can speak, of course there are some grammatical mistakes, yes, but the user who doesn't speak English can understand very easily the content of the web site. All contents, modules, menus get translated very well!
Now something about the PRO Version. If you don't want to see the message : ...Translating... but want your site automatically load into new language or if you want your site to be indexed in the local national google database (using SEO) then I suggest go PRO. It cost 80 USD, yes, but the support is more than great and very fast. Even if you stuck, you describe the situation and you got answer. Or if you are a total dummy, give the creator a temporary FTP access to your web site and he will do it for you!. Great service!

Sorry guys, I used to love the Joomfish when it was under 1.0 I had it on one of my sites and it is running just great!!!! Now I have another one in Joomla 1.5 and tried Joomfish thinking of premiere translation component. FORGET IT. Spent 45 min restoring my web site back to the origin stage when it was before I installed it. If you have SH404SEF installed as the SEF translation of URLs and now you want JOOMFISH, forget it. These two great components hate each other, there is no way you can bring back the web site unless you de-install it. I de-installed my favorite SH404SEF first thinking I would at least have bi-lingual site without SEF. Forget it, there is another issue which authors admit under Joomla 1.5. "It has become apparent that the Joomla caching system, which is based on files stored in the "/cache" directory, is not an ideal solution for Joomfish translation caching. It is too slow and can lead to large numbers of files being created which then cause the system to slow down as it works out which ones need deleting." No way you can figure out the patch yourself if you are a rookie like me. So after 1 hour of restoring my website I am finally left with plain web site and thinking to re-install the SH404SEF at least and think how to translate the web site... I guess English as default will do for now...
Best regards,

PS don't take it as criticism, the component has still great potential and most of all is free, so I admire you for that, but please work with SH404SEF guys and program something working. Many thanks!

Hi,
We try to work hard together with Yannick to make both extensions work together easily. Can you please give us some more details what went wrong for you? Best may be in our forum at www.joomfish.net/forum?
Thanks
Alex

the module works perfectly, easy to install - BUT, the google translation services is far from being even near.. word by word will not make a sentence. It's worse than having anything. I know how difficult it must be to translate stuff, but I wouldn't put something out if it means derailment.

PS but the module works great

You guys did an excellent piece of work for video fans. And all under GPL. There is so much customization in the component that it takes a while to learn it (it took me about 10 min) and now I have fully functional site with videos on it ordered nicely in categories, featured videos, most viewed videos etc...

If anyone is lost with AdSense, after installing this module, you won't be, I guarantee.
The only trick is it copy the module (and customize banners) as many times as possible and select different pages for display.
If you would like to insert also in between the text which I recommend, use the in-built {mosloadposition advert3} (advert being any position which is available and unique)
Select the links color as all links in your page, and select background as close as possible to your background (for those unfortunate like me with gradient color, use the closest nearby as unfortunately AdSense doesn't allow transparent colors)

If you want to build up your own dictionary or glossary of terms this is the best component to use. It's easy, it has categories, it has terms, it has search, letters etc... all in one

I would like to recommend this community tool to any newbies like me. I don't know how can anybody say it's too complex. Ok, it took me about 30 min to read the installation package, but then step by step you install component, modules and that's it... All is needed to be done is to play with it and change the fields as you wish. It's really simple and I fully recommended it to newcomers to Joomla or CB. I was bit scared reading other's comments about complexity, those who write it's complex, haven't seen the complex yet.
5 thumbs up
