Very responsive developer - added a sort by created date within a couple of days of a post requesting the feature on the support forum. The module itself is simple to use, and produces a teletype style display, much like the one used on the BBC News website - which is what my client was asking for.
I only came across this by accident, as I was looking for something like this module in the 'News Tickers and Scrollers' category, but then, I'm not really sure what the difference is between that and 'Newsflash' anyway.
That said, I'd heartily recommend this module and its developer. My one remaining suggestion would be for the selection of section and category to be via a drop-down menu, as it's a bit of a pain having to navigate away from the module to find out the ID numbers.

The reason for enter the ID is you will have more flexibility of multiple ID to enter. By drop down you only limit to just one selection.

not being able to assign a module suffix limits its use for me, which is a shame as MagpieRSS is the PHP include I use when I'm hand-coding sites. Once that's sorted (and the module makes it out of beta), it should pretty much do the business as a good simple solution to presenting RSS feeds.
