JS G-KUNENA
Please do not buy this component! The company does not give any kind of support whatoever. They receive your money and then you're on your own.

Check their forum before buying. It'll explain above warning.

Sobi2
My relationship with sobi2 has not been a good one so far. I love it at one point, but really hate it at others.

Sobi2 is great as a 'out of the box' solution, but if you ever decide to customise things (apart from colors or content in the templates) its a nightmare. Sobi2 is written for its purpose, but definitely not as a flexible directory framework.

When I started on my project I made a plan of what my site should contain, and based on what I read from sobi2's features sobi2 contained everything I wanted. Halfway it seemed it did absolutely not nearly did what I wanted it to do, and had to made so much adjustments to the code I will never be able to upgrade again.

I had to alter/create code for quite a lot of features (google maps on search results, 'from-to' ranges in search options, extend security controls to category level, adjust pager controls and so on) and became quite a PHP coder during my project. :)

Sobi2 is great for a standard directory, although it really has its flaws, but if you want more than just out of the box features you'd better build something yourself. I know I would have if I would have known this from the start.

Sobi2 is (unfortunately) the best directory component for joomla, so I will recommend it, but beware! You might end up altering code more than you like.

Google Mapping for SOBI2 Search Results
Be aware that it is not a customizable plugin for SOBI2, but a zipfile with instructions (and sources) to change the existing sobi2 files to create a map for the searchresults.

The instructions need to be followed very clearly, and even then I still needed support to get things working, it most important. It works great! To tweak things its required that you know some php, or you'll be stuck with the standard view as Corshop implemented it.

Anyway, if you have basic PHP knowledge to customise things to your needs, it is highly recommended, since not having searchresults on the map is a serious downside of SOBI2.

Support is absolutely great, just ask your question in Corshop's forum and you'll get answers within a few hours and they continues the support until it works as it should.
