I love it as it is used on the demo site, but when you want to disable "email activation" in the joomla 1.5 global configuration settings (i.e. like when they are making a payment... you don't need them to show they are real in our case, because if they're faking it when they get to the credit card payment, there would be where they get stopped... that's why there is that option in the joomla global config I believe).
Anyway, just wanted to point out that the redirection URL doesn't work when the account activation is turned off in joomla. Maybe it's because I'm using the core SEF urls?

Ok, so if you want to host it on your own site, forget it... it costs more than getting a site developed!
Nice tabbed interface in search results, but also opens in a new window when searching by zipcode (doesn't load via the joomla URL structure).
I think they ported this to Joomla and left out some of the main things that would make it a viable choice, like a reasonable price!!!

Our hosted service pricing starts at $11.00 per month which is quite affordable.
The Joomla! component has two options: 1) Deployment in iFrame within the Joomla! structure and 2) Open search results in a new window.
Checkout the free trial and see for yourself.

Does what it says, except for the search functionality doesn't pull in results if you search for the name or username, even when copying and pasting the username or name. Can't figure that out.
But it's a good start to build on if you want to modify it to suit your purposes.

Community builder is a necessary feature of any joomla site trying to have a community (not just content driven) feeling. I needed to create a daily coaching media component for our website and ol' faithful Community Builder allowed me to gather the required information about the user (which I needed to determine gender and their fitness level) by just adding fields to the profile. I also found the plethora of plugins tailored to work with community builder like Mamblog and CB Profile Gallery to be just what I needed. They all integrate into the person's profile, so it feels like a cohesive unit. This is more than a component, it is like myspace within joomla because it has so many plugins available for it
