This plug-in does what it says 'on the tin'. It's easy to install, and has a very wide range of options of what to notify, and to which user, or group of users etc.

The minor downside is that it takes a while to get used to the set-up logic involved. I found some initial experimentation worked wonders and thereafter I was quickly to configure the plug-in as I wanted.

The documentation is minimal, but to be fair I don't think it would have been easy to write comprehensive help notes, much easier to experiment to get the hang of it.

If at first you don't think its working check your e-mail spam bin ! I didn't and that cost me an hour or so of wondering what I was doing wrong !

There are a few typos in the English language used in the plug-in, but these do not affect usability.

Overall a must have plug-in for any Joomla site where you have multiple front end editors or contributors.

I will install it as a matter of routine in all my Joomla sites from now on.

Responsive Photo Gallery
If you are looking for a basic photo gallery module, look no further, this one does what it says 'on the tin' and is easy to install and get going.

To be effective all photos have to be resized to fit nicely into the monitor aspect ratio you are designing for. I found that for sensible display all the photos had to be resized to 400 px in height, but this would depend on yor template. Also if you want descriptive titles you have to rewrite the file names to be the title you want.

Overall really useful if, like me, you just want a basic gallery module. I especially like the ability to just upload more photos, which are then automatically incorporated in the gallery.

The author seems to be very happy to promptly answer any questions, which is excellent considering this is a free extension

Phoca Favicon
If you need basic favicon functionality, this is the extension to use.

Install and have working in 5 minutes or less.

I particularly like the way you can upload a decent size graphics image, and all the tedious work of creating the 16x16 favico is done for you.

Many thanks for a great piece of extension design.

Qlue Custom 404
Qlue Custom 404 works very well for the standard errors when generated from within a Joomla site. In my site I could not get a reference to the Qlue error 'page' to work for non Joomla site components, but that was easily overcome by creating a second identical error 'page' and pointing to it from a conventional .htaccess file in the site root.

Much better than relying on the standard 404 error pages etc. as you can direct the user immediately back into your main site.

Especially useful when major site updates break a lot of existing search engine references.

Qlue is simple to install and configure.

Cakecrumbs
The Cakecrumbs module cleans up the standard Joomla module (in version 2.5) a little, but like most other 'breadcrumb' replacements fails to address the ability to remove categories from the breadcrumb trail; which in my view often makes the trail very confusing for site users, and would be a most useful enhancement.

The only way to achieve this currently is to hack the core files.

ACL Manager
As a Joomla newbie I was finding Access Control to various user groups a real struggle.

Downloaded ACL Manager, after looking at the web site demos etc. and had it running in less than 5 minutes controlling editing access to my site.

It's been said many times, but this extension really is worth every penny.

All the best
