JV Chart
This may be a great plugin, but I can't figure out how to make it do anything... and I am NOT a Joomla newbie...

Absolutely zero documentation and no contact link on the developer's site. There's only a picture of some graphs.

Simple Image Gallery
I've used SIG and SIGPro for years. It's my "go to" photo gallery plugin! Installation and usage are a snap! The syntax for customizing displays is easy to understand and well thought out.

I've built hundreds of Joomla! websites over the years and the guys at JoomlaWorks consistently produce top quality stuff. The freebies are great, and the "pro" extensions are well worth the asking price. Whenever I've had an issue (usually with customization) the forums are active and a huge help. 5 stars!!

DB Replacer
The guys at NoNumber.nl are truly incredible! This is yet another example of their fine work. Not only does this component find and replace for you, but it has a really cool interface that takes any anxiety about making a change db-wide. 5 stars!

jomCalendar
I bought this because I thought it had more features than jCal Pro. Quite the opposite is true.

Although it does feature some fancy interface design and the Timeline view is VERY cool, it's lacking some very basic features, like being able to disable month/week/day views (necessary if you have 20 events every day!), setting a default landing page, etc. In fact, the back end is so absent of settings and options that I re-installed the component thinking that something went wrong! You can set the date format for everything, but that's it. Also missing is ical .ics export, and a simple sortable table view for all events in the back end.

Overall, I don't think this is worth the (non-refundable) price. It costs the same as jCal Pro and has a fraction of the features. I gave it 2 stars because of the neat drag and drop style interface on the back end and the Timeline view.

Thank you for your review.

"to disable month/week/day views"

This is present in the params area of A) Component or B) Menu Item (this overrides the component params) : Show week, show Month, etc, etc

"setting a default landing page, etc"

This is done when you create a menu item, in the creation phase of a menu item you can choose which view to land on. It is suggested that you always use menu items to deploy a component as opposed to direct linking, you have more functionality then.

"a simple sortable table view for all events in the back end"

This can be in many ways achieved using the Flex module that is shipped with jomCalendar.

We invite you to read the comprehensive manual that is included with jomCalendar and look forward to any further questions you may have. Feel free to post ask any questions you have to our support desk or on our public community forums.

Thank you and have a nice day!

CustoMenu
I got this module after spending a weekend pulling my hair out trying to get active states on 2 different menus to coincide. CustoMenu allowed me to define the behaivor of one menu completely independent of the others, which worked perfectly!

The module is easy to set up and super easy to get going with content. The CSS is easily understood and everything works fine with Cufon!

One suggestion... The admin panel needs to be something like an accordion menu. That would make it easier to jump right to the menu item you want to edit and keep everything neat.

In closing, it's a perfect 10, 5 stars and 2 thumbs way up! CustoMenu saved what little hair I have left! CustoMenu is highly worthy of a donation, which I'm going to do right now! THANK YOU!

I had it as an accordion menu (per item) in previous versions. But that caused the page to often hang (too heavy on he javascript).

This module doesn't do much, but what it does do is VERY nice. It displays a listing of files in a directory for download. Perfect if you have a bunch of PDFs in a folder, for example. I would like to see it list folders as well as files, which would make it very easy to categorize files on the server, then show them on your site. Add the folder function and it's perfect!!

RokSlideshow
This is one STELLAR slideshow module!

Easy to install

Easy to configure

lightweight and reliable - works with any template/menu!

... and one of the best looking fades out there! Most of the other slideshow modules don't really "fade". Instead, they assume you're site has a white background and blow out the previous photo to white, which creates the illustion of 2 photos fading into each other. RokSlideshow actually fades the images together. One gets transparent while the other gets more opaque. It looks gorgeous and opens the possibility for some neat tricks like giving the illusion that only type is changing over a static background.

Excellent work Rocketwerx!

Global News
This module should be integrated into the Joomla! core!! This module gives you MUCH greater flexibility on how you handle "latest news" items on your pages. 4.5 stars!!

The only complaint I have is that there seems to be no way to modify the position of the date (I want it on top of the title). But heck, that's minor! I only deducted half a star!

Hi! That is possible now, since the 1.3.1 version.
